Garry,

The only time I could have been called a teacher's pet while I was at Dan McCarty would have been in Mr. West's class...or as some so lovingly called him, Coach West.

Of course, Mr. B hid me in his closet when I skipped PE and Coach Chapman saw me watching my class from the Art Room window. The coach ran around the building and I ran and said, Mr. B hide me.  The coach came in and said, "Where's Tommy Schwartz?"  Mr. B said "He was here last period, he is in your class know".

Helen and Tommy ~ I am impressed.  I know I have kept a lot of things that should be in the garbage, but I don't have this to share.  Merry Christmas to all!

I was sitting in Moonswinner's Barbecue (Dale's West) and saw a metalic light blue 1964 and a half Mustang Convertible go through.  I couldn't help but flash back to 7th grade when Miss Arlene Justice (math teacher on "A" corridor) showed up at school with one exactly like it.  I remember that she got plenty of attention driving up 13th Street with her top down and red hair blowing.  Anybody remember her and that car?  She was more than likely the first person any of us ever knew who had a Mustang.

I Hope Everybody Has a Wonderful New Year!

Remember Miss Justice well....she was one of my favorite teachers in Jr. High...Didn't she have a sister who taught English?  Happy New Year everyone!!!

Carolyn,  Miss Justice, who taught math in junior high was Arlene.  Her sister was Darlene.  Arlene also taught math and Amercian History at DMHS.

Class,

I am still in the process of getting the Pay Pal information to work for the 65th Birthday Party Event.  When it is fixed, it should take Credit Cards even if you don't have a Pay Pal Account.  Please hold off on registering until I have it going.  If you are sending a check, you can register that way.  The information is now on the event as to the address to send your check to.

Thanks,

Tommy

Garry...I am believing that you are a phantom I can't believe you would possibly show up???? Are you really planning to attend 😜

Tommy Schwartz

Andy,

If you follow the registration form all the way to the last page, there is an address to mail the check.  Just keep following it and you will finally arrive.  I'm not sure why it would make you click so many buttons just to give you an address, but that is how it does.  Hope to see you there.  I think the last time I saw you was when our band was playing in Vero Beach at the Long Branch about 20 years ago.

To the rest of the class, I think that this is working now to take credit cards.  I guess it takes credit cards and applies the money to the Pay Pal account.  Feel free to register now.  BTW, I believe that originally there was information that said credit cards would be taken at the door.  I don't see how that is going to happen.

Tommy

Andy (and anybody else who wants to pay by check),

Those wanting to send a check in.

Make check to:   Dan McCarty Class of 1969

                              c/o Richard Haisley

                             3015 Okeechobee Road

                             Fort Pierce, FL  34947

Make check for $30/person in your party.

BTW Andy, I still have that same band that you heard in Vero Beach 25 years ago and we will be at Cobb's Landing (Fort Pierce Marina area next to the old Cobb's store) this Friday at 7 pm.   Friday Fest starts at 5pm next door so it will be a heck of a party by the time we get done at 11 pm. It always is.  Fort Pierce is still just one big family and a trip here is like a giant family reunion.  It always turns out that way.

Andy,

Friday Fest is the first Friday of each month so it will be the day before the party.  You really should come early so you can be there.  You should know a lot of people there.  This month's Friday Fest is tonight and we are next door playing.  Looks like it will be cool judging by the weather this morning.  Just hope the rain is finished as we play outside of course.

Pretty sure that our band will be off the weekend of the party since the week before is our yearly Gary Stewart Tribute Concert.  It usually takes a week or so to get over that one.  Too much Sun and  Bud.

Class,

I am so sad and in shock.  I can't believe the news that just came to me but, Lawrence Vickers died in that horrible crash this morning on Midway Road out by the SL County Fairgrounds.  They say it took 2½ hours to get him out.  I hope this was ok to post this like this.  I probably am not even thinking properly right now.  My nephew Billie Borland is with his wife Doris.  Please say a Prayer the family.  I know that Doris is totally heart broken and their daughter as well.

With Extreme Sadness,

Tommy

Obituary for Orrin Lawrence Vickers

Orrin Lawrence Vickers, 68, was born on August 3, 1948. He was a life long resident of Fort Pierce, Florida where he started his land clearing company, Treasure Coast Tractor Service. LV was known to never have a bad day. It was impossible for him to meet a stranger or to find him not smiling. His passions included fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and of course, cutting up. His proudest accomplishment was marrying the love of his life Doris. Although he passed March 7, 2017, their love outlasts his time on earth. LV is survived by his two daughters Kelly and Ashley Vickers Brown and son-in-law, Ed Brown, and grandson Logan Folan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, OJ & Allowee Vickers and son, Tody Vickers.

Services: Service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Orange Avenue Baptist Church, Fort Pierce.

Lee and I attended the Funeral of Lawrence Vickers today.  It was a wonderful service.  Orange Avenue Baptist was packed to standing room and the recreation hall had a television monitor so the overflow could see the service.  The man wasn't poor when it came to friends.  The funny thing is that most people had the same thing to say as I had been thinking ever since learning of his tragic accident: You never saw Lawrence without a smile on his face.

AGE is merely a number! I know I'm 65 now, closer to 66 actually. And I honestly do not feel this old nor do I even think about it! I can hardly wait to see all of you again, I swear it! LOL...I believe "we had the greatest High School experience" EVER! Think about what was happening in America in 1967 through 1969...WOODSTOCK and Viet Nam; they shaped our lives!
