But all Im doing is checking here and reading on the Democrats fighting it out. I hate polls they show McCain pulling up tho. Its going to be a year mark my words and the ones to follow.
...Hey I try to call Bill Phillips today but had over 50 Phillips in Granbury. Hes on the reunion.com and others. I signed up on the classmates.com last night. That site is a mess it was only 12 or 15 bucks to do so for I had an email saying somebody was tiring to find me there. It was Brain Jewell, but no message from him. I think he just saw my name on the site for I wasnt a member till last night. Edmond Duvall, had a message that, he was looking for people from school.
... On classmate.com you cant post messages with address, phone number or web sites. So dont kill me Glenda call me 817-975-4042 I posted a message to call Glenda at Texas Star Golf course, Euless TX. for info on 18th and 19th reunion.
...I filled out a profile on reunion.com a month or so back theirs about 20 people there thats in our class, Like I said Bill there, ITS 36 or 38 bucks there Ill send it, then call the bank let only one charge go through, I hate web site and using cards, they come back and hit you again without notice, if that the only way to get him Bill P.

Steve.....I hate to burst your bubble, but I remember Bob Forrester ( Pee Wee football coach of the Riverside Hurricanes, mentor to many of us and in the class of "56" from Carter High) talking about the Riverside Rats. I remember Bob telling me that the football team was the rats. Lon Goldstein ( FWISD Athetetic Director during our time at Carter), head Carter football coach back then called them rats. So, it does go back further than the early 70's. Sorry Steve!!!

... Congrads Tony, You busted the page,so we now have started to backlog messages now. I wonder how long it was going to take. Lord knows I been trying. lol
... So Tony when I was younger in the late 60`s, note 60s will maybe up to 72, I heard. By other kids and even patents telling me to watch for this gang, in thinking being told storys it was some teen thugs hidding in bushes for people. Your saying that it was a or was the football team from the 50s. Or are you saying that they was the start? Maybe, In 78 or 79 Freddie Violante was saying that it was them that was the Riverside Rats. Had the hand shake the whole nine yards.
... For sure I never saw any kind of gang running around growing up, as I said after time I got to thinking that it was all made up. Just to keep us off the streets. Till my brother, after our graduation told me his story. I just got to thinking that maybe so. For that was why I didnt see them on my own, for he being my brother an all, I was saying. Going on record no busted bubble here, just talking, Maybe there was many gangs :-/
... I think jeff got it right, its all just bellished out storys over the years, BUT "WELL" I do believe that theres a story for some young EAGLE RECORD reporter to go dig up or find out, to get to the root of it all. LOL
... P.S. I was in the Oakhurst area today drove to your old house Jeff, didnt think you would be there but tried any way knot on the door. no one came. Then to Sammys BBQ had a sandwich beer, then went to Bill Phillips parents house talk to them for 4-5 hour some to Bill over the phone.

I was told by some old farts at Pops Pool Hall that the Riverside Rats were a small but mean as hell motorcycle gang in the early 60's takin care of bizness on the streets of riverside area. Its kinda funny how people from the east side and westside seem to know about the Rats.

CHUCK,you're an import.a better-late-than-never RAT.to be honest with you,i had always heard the biker stories but never actually met anyone that claimed they were for a fact an original RAT gang member.maybe they were such bad asses that they all died in prison or became middle school science teachers.who knows CHUCK,maybe they went into the federal wintess protection program and became self employed roofers.

Living over on the southeast side of Riverside we never heard of the rats. We lived to close to Stop-six and Poly to worry about any sissy rats.

Shelley DuPuy

And here I was, wondering why I didn't remember any Rats. Guess it's 'cause I came from Poly originally so the Rats didn't make enough of an impression to stick! Couldn't possibly be because my memory is failing.;)

Well I thought the RAT story would spin a-lil,
... I was thinking about starting another one, But I think if I do, I need to defend myself in person on that story, See you RATS Friday on the golf course, AND I put myself at a 27 handi-cap. I played in the Lonnigan sports bar beer league. Last spring and thats what I was, sad to say, it can be called on. Note if anybody like to play in it. It will be starting soon again. I got the info on it.
... I saw Martha Engdahl up dating her profile, does anybody know if she will be coming up?

Whats a Grackle?

Susan Harlan (Garrison)

Okay,
There were no Riverside Rats gang because I lived in "Leave it to Beaver's" neighborhood. The closest thing my neighborhood had to worry about was Tim White and Tex Foster knocking on doors late at night to see if someone was home so they could swipe something. I don't remember any gangs at school, there was only a rumor Randy Cross carried a knife and that was the only weapon I ever heard of and if there was a fight it was with fists. No one ever dreamed of someone getting mad and shooting people at school like they do now. Sure it was wild and crazy back then, but a lot more fun and really innocent when you think about it compared to today.

P. S.

Im trying my best to stay quit here now..LOL So SUSAN,, good to hear from you. Hi Im TWOONTY and going on to eightteen. Bill Phillips

Susan, what about those horrible midnight TP raids on the Harlan residence?? Are you still receiving royalties on the patented Harlan TP Removal Tool? Charmin should be sending ya'll some type of compensation for all of their product that was used on your trees...YES, definitely a lot more innocent in the scheme of things!! Wish our kids could safely do half the stuff we did.

Bill Phillips

Steve, the other night you said you were driving the beer cart for the league, how did you rack up a 27 handicap?? Wish I could join ya'll out there and show you all what BAD form looks like. Probably a good thing that I cannot make it, wouldn't be pretty, have not swung a club for years, one of the side benefits of having a growinf family! Carmen is the golfer, went to state several times, but I took her away from all that :)See you at Sammie's to hear the tales. Last time I played Rockwood (16+ yrs ago) it was not in such good shape, ought to be challenging.

Susan Harlan (Garrison)

Yeah Billy,
My dad had a terrific tool he made for removal of toilet paper. It was a long cane pole with a giant hook wired to the end. It reached up to almost the top of our pecan trees and you could wrap the paper around the pole and yank the stuff down. Of course I was the one who got to use it most of the time. My neighbors were good sports about it all and didn't mind all that paper blowing around. Of course most of them had teenagers a few years before that and were pretty understanding. Too bad the kids today can't have fun like that. My own kids did some TPing of their own, but the parents always got really mad, so some of the fun was taken out of it. I guess I never appreciated how tolerant mine were. Except for the time some of my "FRIENDS" dumped bags of garbage on my yard and porch!!!!! Now that was a different story. I still am mad about that because I had just had my wisdom teeth out and had to go out at 6 in the morning and clean it up. The health department came by and wanted to condemn our property. Some friends!!

Jeff,
As I recall you were the one who called at the crack of dawn and yelled "City Sanitation Department" into the phone. I have given Jamey heck about it and he felt bad I think. I do recall a police encounter at my house, but to your credit you apologized and never did it again. As for those other guys involved.........I'm probably gonna have to kill em.

04/16/08 01:00 PM #43

Jeff Dunn

SUSAN--are you sure it was me that yelled that? it couldnt have been,i was too busy trying to take the phone away from some mean prank callers.see,so there's no way it could have been me.just ask the little old ladies i was escorting across the street to sunday school.

04/16/08 01:03 PM #44

Tim Spraggins

Susan, Why dont you post your address so that some of the guys that that still need to apologize can come by in person. That will clear the air.

Hey Jeff,
Talking about swimming.....remember going to the Riverside rec. swimming pool at 1 or 2 in the morning. We would jump the high fence and go into the freezing water in our underware. Who else remembers doing that or hearing about it! Oh, I do remember getting caught by the FWPD once, just once. The reason we got caught was the police saw all of these cloth scattered throughtout the pool area. The big spot light was the winner. Of course we got smart from then on and left our clothes in the cars!!! We also parked our cars away from the high fences! We from CHS are no knuckleheads.

04/16/08 09:08 PM #49

Steve J. Krivanek West

... Oh yes Tony, I remember going swimming in that pool many time. Senior year that spring and summer, lots of partying going on. One time I got out of the pool Thinking Rick Costs, I believed was driving in circles in the parking lot but wouldnt stop. So when I walked up on the car to look inside it wasnt him. Then told the man Im sorry thought it was somebody else. He replied will your getting ready to get to know me. As he turns his baseball cap around backwards. Me there going oh shh..t his guy big. He starts to open the door Im getting all pumped up. He stops and there was about ten people standing behind me, if any of you was there Thank You.
