Bryan (Not Brian) Herrington was one of my best friends. We got into more trouble together than I care to recall. We met in middle school. Bryan's mother use to make all his clothes that he wore. Back then they were polyester and he always had a shirt and pants that matched. One day he'd wear the green outfit and the next maroon and so forth. Frankly, he was a little odd looking with his matching homemade outfit, but that was him. He liked to skip school back then and taught me how to do it. We would go over to his house on Riverside Dr. while his parents were at work and hang out. Then get Christy Smith to write us a note, because she had such good hand writing the teachers thought it was from the parents.

Bryan loved concerts and didn't miss any. He always bought a t-shirt and that was his daily attire in high school - a different concert t-shirt everyday.

Once we got a little sauced and snuck in to a Willie Nelson concert, but got caught. As the security guards were chasing us, in our inebriated state we ran up on stage. The security guards grabbed us, but Willie told them to let us go and we walked right off the front of the stage and into the audience. Great Memories!

We saw Elvis together at the Convention Center.

We were taken home by the police together.

Bryan worked at Napoleans Pizza for a while before going to work for Eckerds.

In High School Bryan bought a old motorcycle from one of the coaches. I can't remember which one. We rode that thing all over till he hit a car with it right there in front of the student parking lot. It went home in a basket - Bryan was relatively unhurt and he bought another motorcycle. That would have been the one he rode through the school hall.

Sophomore year I broke a leg and he was there with me. When I was in the hospital he had a broke leg and would strap his crutches to the back of his motorcycle and ride up to the hospital in his cast to see me.

Ah-to many stories to tell.

Anybody remember that Toyota Celica he use to drive?

Bryan had a wide and diverse group of friends. He introduced me to Tim Pruett, Gary Steele, Pam Schwartz, Therese Karl and Ricky Kistler. And the girls loved him. I just wanted one girlfriend and he had 6 (not at the same time).

I remember him trying to convince me one time that cassette tapes were better than 8-tracks. We argued about that for weeks.

Some of my best memories are him riding shotgun in my 73 Pontiac LeMans. We cruised the streets every night for the better part of three years.

Bryan had a heart of gold and was a true friend. He is still missed after all these years.

This happening was a shock to all of us during our senior year, To this date I still remember the funeral when they play "Dust in the wind"

Memories of Bryan,

Bryan, hitting me in the back of the head in high school and me punching him in the eye, got us both detention.

Bryan, doing a wheelie on his motorcycle then hitting a car that pulled out in front of him and he flying through the air close to campus. Watching him ride his bike down the hall in high school.

Bryan and I were friends in elementary school , he use to come over and play then buy me slurpees and snacks from the riverside mini mart, one day his mom came over to pick him up and demanded to know what Bryan had did with her $10 that was missing.
