June 2018 Update - We are not able to make the reunion. Hope everyone enjoyed last nights get-together. Hello from Alaska.
Old Stuff from 2008 - Connie and I got married in 79. She graduated in 1980.
We left Texas in 1980 and moved to Boncarbo, Colorado which is near Trinidad. From 1981-88 we lived in Colorado Springs where both kids were born.
Everywhere outside of Texas is different than Texas. We went to a bar one night and they wanted to see IDs. They wouldn't let Connie in because she was under 21. We promptly and proudly held up our wedding rings to show we were married. They looked at us like we were stupid! We were use to Texas were you could drink at any age as long as you were married.
1989-1991 we lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is hot there!
In 1992 we moved to Eagle River, Alaska. We do love it here. It is a lot like Texas in a way, independent and unique.
Connie still talks with a heavy Texas accent. We get asked all the time, "Where you from?" As if they didn't know already.
We seem to make it back to Texas on a regular basis. We love Jack In the Box tacos, Texas Bar-B-Q brisket and a trip to any Beer Joint, Dance Hall or Texas Honky Tonk.
Our poor kids are warped too. Allie came home from school one day wanting to know why we had a ice-box and all her friends have refrigerators. And why we use cream rinse instead of conditioner. My son, a college graduate informed me recently that use-to-cud was not a word. When we tell people we are fixin to go out, they think we have to repair the car first or something. I'm always being corrected on the way I pronounce warsh. As in "Where's the Warshateria?" Or "General George Warshington was our first president."
We are unable to make the reunion. Could someone please say hi for us?
