Laurie Hiett Istook

After graduating from Carter I went to TCU and got my BS in Education. I was a special education teacher in Azle and Birdville. I later got my MS in Education from Texas Wesleyan and became a reading specialist. Next, I went to TWU and received a certificate to work as an educational diagnostician. At the end of this school year I will have completed 25 years as an educator. Hard to believe how quickly time passes. In 2001 I married my husband, Don. We enjoy traveling abroad, staying active in our church and spending time with our six grandchildren.

When I think back on high school, I have very fond memories of being in the school band and twirling. I also remember Andra Creed and I being the "Devotional Committee" and starting the daily announcements with a Bible verse or thought for the day. Times have sure changed!
