I got an OK to golf without Mandi. She also wants to golf with someone who is not too serious. I don't know who has played Auburn Hills before, it is beautiful, but it is a pretty tough course. I played Friday and lost 18 balls. (that's with about 20 muligans) If you have a slice or a hook, the rough is very tall, so you better bring a case of balls.

Wells, I've played it once or twice, and yes, it is hard as h*ll.

I think we'll all be out to have fun, so any group will be fine. It sounds as if you'd prefer not to play in the same group as your wife.

With that said, with spouses playing, who may or may not know anyone, let me know if your spouse is playing, would prefer to play w/you, or anyone else specific.

I will play with anyone except Ben (my husband). We would seriously need counseling after... And he completely agrees. I will team up with anybody else's spouses who are also being rejected. I figure my limit on lost balls is 10 - then I call it quits. This may mean I play a couple of holes and then just caddy the rest...

Hey Todd, put Mandi with Pat's wife Stacey and she will be happy. She remembers & likes everyone from the 15 year, but I figured if we put them together it keeps more classmates together.

It's $33 for 18 holes and half a cart. Hey Todd, I think we ought to switch cart partners every 6 holes so we get to spend equal time with everyone on our team.

Todd Chapple

Switching carts every 6 holes is a great idea. I haven't seen some of you for 20 yrs, so that'd be a great way to catch up (in a matter of an hr or so!).

Michelle, you don't want to be in the same 4some as Ben, or not in the same cart?

06/09/08 06:14 PM #46

Michelle Hopkins (Shanks)

Preferably not in my foursome. He has very good eyes.

Tentative 4somes:

1- Angela, Paul, Darby(you and Paul can discuss the booger pile)

2- Mandy, Stacie, Ben (the spousal 4some)

3- Michelle, Belinda, Pat, Todd(we'll talk about baseball cards, football pencils, hoops, Donnie Campbell...)

Thoughts? Objections? I thought after reading your posts about playing with your spouses, we might just go ahead and pair them all together! And, since the classmates would all like to be paired together one way or another, we can add any additional entries to the 1st 4some, and any additional spouses to #2.

Did I overlook someone, or forget someone? Angela, any objection to being the only female in your group? If you can recruit one more female, then the #'s are even.

That sounds fine to me. Ben remembers Stacie (he met her one night very early in our relationship and, SURPRISE,he remembers her... :)

I'll have to brush up on my baseball card talk.

Belinda - if you're any good, please dummy it down a bit for me :)

Todd, sounds good. Stacie's not picky on who she plays with despite her extreme shyness :)

Michelle, we can probably fit a discussion on hair and eyebrows in between baseball cards and football pencils.

A-ok.

Speaking of hoops, Pat, I presume you are rooting for the Lakers tonight??
:)

Royals, Steelers, Lakers, Jayhawks- I still root for the same teams 20-30 yrs later. Even though the Royals s*ck.

Wow! Did I get behind on this conversation. Ha! My classes started again and my stress level went way up! Ugh! It will all be over though by the time of this reunion!!!

I am good with all of this. This will be a good time.

No worries, Michelle! Although when you see how poorly I play, we can just say I dummied it down for you. Ha!

Pat and Michelle...are we all wearing our golf skirts? Remember Pat, you promised to shave your legs too? However, if your legs are more toned, you may not wear a skirt! Todd feel free to wear one too.

Paul said we might need a case of balls. I'll bring two cases. Whose bringing the case of beer? Ha!

Justin said he would golf with the spousal 4some. He knows Stacie and remembers meeting Mandi. The question is Pat, Paul, and Michelle could your spouses handle him?! Ha!

06/12/08 08:22 AM #53

Michelle Hopkins (Shanks)

I'm not sure a skirt would be appropriate as I may be lying on the ground kicking my feet most of the time. Maybe I should just drive the beer cart :) If I keep my team "refreshed" maybe they won't notice my playing.

I broke three razors trying to shave my legs last night. Looks like I'll have to stick with pants or an ankle length kilt.

06/15/08 07:41 PM #55

Todd Chapple

Pat, get them waxed. If you are not sure about that, reference the scene from "40 Yr. Old Virgin".

I will pass on the skirt, but will partake in beers perhaps unless it's too early! (5:00 Somewhere, as Jimmy Buffett sang....)

Also, adding Justin (Belinda's hubby) to the spousal 4some, and Kurt to Paul, Darby, and Angela. Will try and get 4 tee times, in the event there are a few more additions.

Kurt, almost forgot about shoving the food down the holes in the lunchroom. I always ate my celery, if it had peanut butter on it.

Pat Klausmeyer

I was just thinking about the carrots, the holes, and the lunch room the other day, along with hiding the crappy food in the milk carton in order to qualify for seconds.

And who can forget Miller downing his helping of spinach in one gulp, and the really bad chain of events that followed!

06/17/08 01:14 PM #58

Todd Chapple

......or secretly trading food, which was a major violation in the GPES lunchroom.

Called Auburn Hills today about the golf. They have a weekly Men's Club that plays from 8:00-9:00. I cannot reserve tee times until July 19, which I will call early that AM.

I need to know if you all prefer BEFORE 8:00 or AFTER 9:00. I'm fine with either. We should plan on 5 hrs, approx. and the pool party starts at 2:00.

I will have the official tee times posted here July 19, after I have made them. Paul said $33 for golf and cart, which is very reasonable. Beers and balls are on your own.
:)

Since we all suck, it would probably be better to follow the men's club, but Paul & I might have to cut out early to get the clubhouse set up (unless we can get in there the night before). Paul, what do you think?

06/17/08 06:20 PM #60

Todd Chapple

We could always just do 9 holes vs. 18 if that would make it easier for everyone. It would give time to go back to pick up spouses and kiddos, and allow for setup in the clubhouse.

06/17/08 10:38 PM #61

Belinda Ast (Brandt)

I like the idea of 9 holes. I have actually never done a full 18. I think we should follow the men's club. I would hate for them to be following me!!

06/18/08 07:21 AM #62

Kurt Heimerman

Todd, I also ate my celery if it had peanut butter on it. But I know over the years there was a lot of food crammed down those little holes. I haven't soaked a cookie down with milk on a tray for a while either. I've been meaning to ask you, what ever happened to your favorite uncle? (Mr. Osbourne)

06/18/08 08:09 AM #63

Todd Chapple

Mr. Osborne and I play golf once a week, along with Mr. Perry and Mr. Kamp. Mr. Kamp doesn't hit it too far.

The milk on the cookie thing, man, good times.

9 holes may be the way to go, so everyone isn't rushed. If there are no objections, that'll be the plan.

06/18/08 08:34 AM #64

Michelle Hopkins (Shanks)

I vote for 9 holes.. Mostly to save my team from possibly getting hit by a flying club. There is a much greater chance with 18 holes than 9. NOT that my team should worry at all about those things...
