9 works for me. I probably couldn't carry enough balls to play 18 anyway.

I'd prefer NOT to get hit by a flying golf club, so 9 holes it is.......

Remember, Michelle, just tell yourself "it's only a game, it's only a game."

I have not checked this sight in a while - it's really cool to see you all bantering back and forth! Especially Chapple since he has been MIA for most of you. I am really looking forward to this reunion.

Oh, and whoever posted the pics on the 1980's something - thanks for finding my best pics with my BCG's; I donated the glasses to NASA for the Hubble telescope after contacts. :) If I golfed I would love to play, but given my athletic prowess, I can still throw the club farther than I can hit the ball!!

Varsity Joe,

We will be sure and have plenty of Girl's Lights(Coors Lights) for you at the reunion!! When are you going to buck up and start drinking Guinness?

You guys are cracking me up with your talk about stuffing food in lunchroom holes. Someone was probably swearing at you little buggers while they were cleaning that stuff out. (Sorry, that's just the mom in me.)

This isn't about golf, but I am just wondering if any of you local folks might want to meet out somewhere on Saturday July 5th for a few beers. I'm going to be in Wichita from the 2nd through the 8th and I would love to catch up with anyone who's going to be around. For once, I will actually have a babysitter. (Thank GOD for Grandma!) I am also planning to be at the GP Parade so one or more of my boys can ride on a tractor with Grandpa Ron.

I would propose a meeting/drinking spot, but I'm WAAAYYY out of touch with the local scene. Any ideas??

Sorry Rhonda, I have a family reunion on Sat the 5th. I might see you at the parade.

Just a thought, A lot of reunions go on for 2 days. We could go to Cheney lake on Sunday, Pat and I both have boats and there is a great beach on Wichita point for kids.

Sounds like a great idea, I don't think we'll be able to go to the lake. Have to get back to Lawrence that afternoon. Start packing for vacation to CA.

What about Friday night at "The Getaway" in GP? Is it still open?

Pat Klausmeyer

Rhonda, put me down as a tentative for July 5th. There are some pretty good spots in Old Town where you can sit outside if the weather is nice, and there are usually bands playing at a lot of the places down there.

Either the lake or the Getaway (it is still open) sound good, but considering my old age and feebleness, it would probably take me two weeks to recover from that weekend if we did both!

Belinda Ast (Brandt)

I think the lake is a great idea, but we'll have to be heading home on Sunday. I would maybe come up to the Get-away on Friday night. I couldn't stay too late! I would need my sleep for my early golf game, but I would love to visit with people for a little while.

my, you guys have gotten old.

Hey all,

Out of my curiosity, and with the internet today, did some searching.

DID YOU KNOW:

Mr. Konecny
Mrs. Hatfield
Mrs. Werner

STILL TEACH IN GARDEN PLAIN!!!!! Very cool.

Went to the GPES website and found this out.

Just a thought, it would be fun to see some of the old teachers. With several as parents of classmates (Mr. Brown, Mrs. Ast, Mr. Lippoldt, Coach Schomaker, Mrs. Meyer, Mrs. Labrue) any thought of inviting them, or the above mentioned still teaching, to the pool party OR evening event? It would be fun to see them if they have any interest in stopping by.

Paul, it's a shame you can't make it but you'll have fun at the Family Reunion.

Pat, Old Town sounds fine to me for this coming Saturday. Let me know if you have any place specific in mind. I'll take a look on the internet and see if I can find anything cool going on.

Michelle Hopkins (Shanks)

Wow - I leave town for a few days and I couldn't wait to check back in. You all have been busy. Ben and I would love to meet on Sat the 5th. Friday the 4th we will be out for the parade and then head back in town to get on our lake for some fun and fireworks. We have some family in town or else I would stick around. Let me know if Saturday works for anyone else. The old faithful "Getaway" would be kind of fun if it's still around or in Wichita is great, too...

Shelly Seidl (Dooley)

Hey All. I have been sitting back and reading all of the messages. I like the idea of getting together at the Get A Way Friday before the reunion. It is still open, they have fixed it up a LITTLE bit. Rhonda I will be around GP on the 4th if I don't see you at the parade stop by our house (across the street from the water tower)the same goes for anybody else that will be at the park. We have people coming and going all day long. Todd I had the opportunity to work with Mr.K and Mrs. Werner this past year at school. This will be Mr.K's last year of teaching at GP. He says he is retiring.

Hey all,

I was out of town this week camping with the folks, so I am trying to catch up. I got to see Shelly. She was also out camping. She was turning heads in her bikini! She had a guy on a jet ski hitting on her. He used a dead fish as his way of opening up a conversation with her. Ha!

Rhonda and company...as much as I'd like to be able to see you on July 5th, I don't think I can get back, but please post what you are going to do just in case I could sneak back for the day or evening.

I think it would be fun to see some of the teachers. I don't particularly need to see Mrs. Ast, but whatever. :)

Rhonda, I don't think all the classmates read this message forum. Would you like me to send out an e-mail to them all about July 5th to see if anyone else wants to meet with you all. Let me know.

Hey Todd, I'm not getting old, just age-challenged! I might be able to stay up a little later if you are all highly entertaining! Ha!

06/29/08 11:17 PM #81

Shelly Seidl (Dooley)

Just to set the record straight. The guy on the jet ski was talking to Belinda before I got to the water. If anything I scared him off. If it wasn't the sight of me in a swimming suit it was the fact that now we had 5 boys with us (all 14 and under).
It was good catching up with Belinda and I look forward to seeing everbody at the reunion.

06/30/08 09:22 AM #82

Belinda Ast (Brandt)

Actually, I think the guy on the jet ski was using our child labor to get his sand bag filled. Ha! It's tough getting age-challenged!! :)

Oh, by the way did everyone here the excitement that happened in G.P. on Friday. Shelly, was it Friday? The bank got robbed. He got a whopping $100! They think it is the same guy that robbed the convenience store in Viola, then kidnapped the lady for a couple of days. Crazy! The last I heard they haven't caught him yet.

How about meeting on the patio at Heroes (117 N Mosley St) around 7:30 on Saturday??

06/30/08 09:54 PM #85

Todd Chapple

Sad to hear Mr. K is retiring, although well-deserved. He was a good teacher. A GREAT replacement for Mr. Perry (worthless). I remember playing tennis against Mr. K when I was in middle school. He kicked my a$$. I'm sure later on I would have gotten the best of him.

My wife, being an RN, works this weekend, so I may be able to bring the kids down and head to Old Town if that's the plan. I'll need to see if Grandma Julie can watch the kids, but that shouldn't be a problem. Let me know what is decided. Would be fun to see everyone who can't make it in late July.

Pat, great idea.

***************How about meeting on the patio at Heroes (117 N Mosley St) around 7:30 on Saturday??**************

Let's do it. I've just been looking up Old Town Bars on the internet -- this sounds like a great plan.

I'll be there between 7:30 and 8:00. I'm leaving my kids with Grandma and she won't be home from church until 6:30. We'll head in to Wichita asap.

I can't wait to see everyone who can make it there.

Todd,

How did you happen to play with Adam? Did you know him already? He's actually a cousin by marriage.
