Happy New Year Classmates,

YOU DID IT!!!  We set a 2025 scholarship fundraising goal of $4500 and I'm excited to report that our goal has been exceeded!!!  THANK YOU to all who participated.  For those of you who did not have an opportunity to contribute to the fundraiser in 2024, it's not too late. The Class of 1980 donates to the Dillard Goldsboro Alumni & Friends, Inc. scholarship fund every year. Our specific requirement has been that it be awarded to a Goldsboro High School graduate.  Again, thank you for your generosity in supporting this endeavor.  Have a safe and blessed New Year and we'll see you Memorial Day Weekend.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."

Dear Classmates:

If anyone is interested in being a Class officer for the Goldsboro High School (GHS) Class of 1980, then submit your name and the intent position you are applying for: President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer and Parliamentarian. All candidates have to be dedicated and committed to the position. Also, all candidates have to register for the 45th Class Reunion and be in attendance at the Banquet.

The Alumni Class Officers will serve a 5-year term. They have many responsibilities which include planning the events and reunion, keeping classmates connected and informed, maintaining alum information files, making bequests, and publishing updates and newsletters.

The Reunion Class President and Vice President have to write a brief statement of why he or she wants to be president or vice president of the class.

Reunion Class President/Vice President needs to answer the question:  Why do I want to be the Reunion Class President?  I am committed and dedicated to (relevant value or goal of the class) and am excited about the opportunity to (specific contribution you hope to make).

The letter of intent is all about showing that you’re thrilled about the job—a way to express your passion for the position and the class. This personal touch helps you connect with the class. It’s your opportunity to demonstrate that you understand the class’s values and the unique aspects of the position.

Example:  I am writing to express my interest in the (Job Title) position for Goldsboro High School Class of 1980, as advertised on the GHS Class of 1980 website.

I am committed and dedicated to (relevant value or goal of the class) and am excited about the opportunity to (specific contribution you hope to make).
