Still here checking in when able. Unfortunately back to reality I must go. I've had to remind myself that I am not in highschool anymore. So it's time to focus on work, home, kids, etc. again. I just posted all my photo's from the Reunion under my profile. I've been grabbing some of the rest of yours being posted so that I can print them as well. I am thinking I might compile them all into a hard cover memory book that you can create on sites like snapfish. I think it would be a great keepsake. Kind of like a 20 yr class yearbook. IF it weren't so much work it would be nice to compile everyones photo's and make these up for those that want to buy one. Just my mind working overtime.

Hello Everyone!

Kim - I just looked at all of your photos. They are wonderful - thank you for taking the time to post them. Great idea for a memory book.

The reunion was a blast. It is hard to move on to reality. It was the reunion that prompted Darin and I to take time as a couple, not just parents. I must say this has been wonderful. Darin and I even went out to Sander's last Saturday to celebrate our 8th Anniversary. Angie McLean and Jay Ingersoll celebrated with us. We had a great time and again a fantastic meal.

On that note we do need some feedback on what people would like to happen for the 25th. Would you change any locations: Whitey's, Lincoln Dr. Park and Sanders?

Darin and I were very happy with the decision to have the family picnic on Saturday afternoon vs. Sunday. The picnic was an extension of Friday night and a build-up to Saturday night. We were also forturnate to have great weather for the picnic. Danielle Rothenberger and her friends and family did an amazing job entertaining the kids along with Lance and Mike. Thankfully she was thinking and had the pop, water and icees. I loved that so many people came to the picnic.

Please post your comments or contact us directly any ideas for the 25th. Things you would like to keep the same and things you would like to see done differently.

God bless.

Wow - That was the BEST TIME EVER! The whole weekend I just kept looking around and thinking what an AMAZING class we have. Getting back to "regular life" has been a bit tough. I was hoarse (like Bryant) for at least a week after. People kept asking if I was sick (nope - just a GREAT reunion). Thanks to EVERYONE who helped in the coordination. You guys rock. Happy (belated) anniversary Darin and Kathy. I was thinking of you on 8/18/08.

Looking at all the pictures has been awesome - kinda helps you to re-live it. I'm so excited we're going to do a 25-year. Kathy- I wouldn't change a thing. It was PERFECT! Whitey's is always so much fun, Saturday's picnic was GREAT (I liked it on Saturday. It would have been tough to extend it to Sunday) and Sander's was absolutely the BEST. The food, the music, the location -- just awesome! Tell Kim he is the coolest for letting us have it there.

I would love to help in any way I can for the 25-year. Just let me know. Thanks again to everyone who helped and attended. What a great weekend!

Whitey's was to crowded for me...........so I would suggest like Leigon or VFW. Having picnic on saturay works but riverside has a nice shelter right next to playground. Sanders rocked...........music and all fun night. But I would have been happy with drinks and pizza lol. lets hold a dance in the school like the good old days.........lol! Have a bond fire......could be fun. So did we cover the cost of everything? I could help if needed.

My thoughts on the 25 yr Reunion.....take a pole. We now have this faboulous tool with the Reunion site. As it gets closer and the committe starts planning, place some of the suggestions out into a pole and let the class vote on the events.

I personally loved Whitey's. I also loved being able to visit and see my Red River friends at the same time.

I would have liked to have gone to the picnic, but I had a little too much fun the night before. And I wouldn't have had enough time to drive home(out of town), get the kids and get back.

It looks like those that went to Sanders had a blast. I like the idea of you opening it up to everyone after dinner. I just didn't have a sitter so ended up having supper with some classmates and going home. But although Kim Holms is great and Sanders might be as well. I just don't think everybody likes that kind of food. Hard to justify paying $65 for a plate of food you can't eat. These are just my thoughts and are not intended to upset anybody!

Hopefully my home life is a little less stressful in 25 yrs with the kids having some independence. If time allows I would love to help out.

Awesome feedback! Keep it coming. I think we have a huge advantage with the website in place. I have noticed that people continue to be found and post. Our goal for our 25th should be to contact everyone in our class and make sure they know about the site, they post their info and anyone who can attend the reunion does.

We did meet all of our costs. Opening the doors after 10 PM at Sanders with the $5.00 cover charge helped us to cover the dj. Randy, Vic, Darin and myself all pitched in and are not asking for any money back, but instead to donate those funds to the website fund and Make A Difference. We will post the final numbers after we hear back on one final donation. Sorry for the delay.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the web fund and Make A Difference. As a class we should consider how we can grow the Make A Difference over the next 5 years. One idea suggested include asking for matching donations from your work place.

Peace.

P.S. Yes, the RRHS crashers did pay the cover charge. We only had to twist one arm. Good thing we had a tough guy(I mean girl) working the beat.

Just an FYI about the food regarding Sanders. Kim was willing to make any type of food requests anybody had no matter what they were. He told us that before the reunion and I also saw him catering to specifics on the night of the reunion. I hope this helps.

Just a note regarding the food at Sanders for those who weren't able to attend. IMO (and I am somebody who is not adventurous at all when it comes to food), it was really good and not at all something weird (for lack of a better word) like you might see on "Top Chef" or a similar show. It was salad, prime rib, salmon (which to my surprise I actually loved), garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus, plus dessert. All was very good. I'll admit that I once saw Sanders as a place that may be bit too "gourmet" for my taste, but I have done a 180 since Kathy and I tried it about again about a month before the reunion.

well if we decide to change sanders we could always just have Italian Moon Restaurant cater then you just need a hall to hold the event. Heck just do it in the park lol! Tammy

I wasn't able to make it as the school that I teach at started on the 11th of August. I spoke to Joe Ensrud and he said everything was really fun; so everything must have been done well. My only suggestion, and I might be in the minority, is to move it to late July. I know almost all of our schools in California start early. I'm not sure about other states, however, I'm only assuming that July would be about as easy as August for everyone to attend. Maybe not? Just a suggestion.

The thing with Joe Blacks is that on a Friday night it is already wall to wall people on a consistent basis. They have awesome food, but I think we'd need a place that's more low key. There was a suggestion of the bar inside the Canad Inn. I've never been there, so I don't know the capacity of the bar.

If anyone is interested, I created a photo sharing website. It is a personal site, btw. You can upload and download photos of the reunion/weekend/etc. I figured people can upload and download the photos for/from each other rather than emailing a bunch of people etc., at full quality. (although I am limited in space I think I have enough to upload a few thousand photos.
If you are interested I password protected it (a bit leary with the web, so I thought I would err on the side of caution).
If interested send me a message and I will send you the name/pw.

How AWESOME! Who would have known that GFC Class of 1988 could also act as economic development for the city of Grand Forks. Go Joe! We would love to have you move back to Grand Forks. Darin and I have never left and we are very pleased with our decision. Grand Forks is a great place to live and raise a family.

AWWWWWW.....ummmmm...you all are GREAT but NOT helping the matter LOL read your responces to Joe and he kept his cat ate the mouse grin LOL Well Considering the same home in CT is 270,000 to Forks 110,000 and Forks dosn't have car taxes....but $$ is one thing having a good old home town feeling that Joe felt in Forks can never be found but in Forks!!!!

Ok, it is my turn to put my two cents in. The 20 year reunion surpassed my expectations by leaps and bounds! I will agree with those who said Whitey's was crowded;it was challenging to hear people at times and manuever through the crowd. However, I did not allow all that commotion to stop me from having fun and connecting with old friends.
Saturday night at Sanders was a great experience! Kim and his staff went out of their way catering to our needs. At my table alone the waiter found an alternative desert for someone who was lactose intolerant, but had never made it known. The staff also informed us Kim had freshly cooked one indviduals meal at the last minute because the person had an olive oil intolerance they also had never shared. I can't say I am aware of many other places that would have been so accomodating.
I support the idea of meeting in a more laid back atmosphere one of the nights during our next reunion. You have my vote for Sanders again for the second night.
Merilee, I support your husbands choice. Each time I move away something about Grand Forks draws me home. Although the big world is slowly creeping in, Grand Forks remains in a bubble from the rest of the world. We would love to have you and your family come home!

Hi Everyone!
I hope everyone is now fully recovered from our weekend! What a fabulous time!
I took Kim's advice, and I am in the process of making a memory album from our reunion. If anyone is interested, the cost will be around $25 for a 7x5 paper softcover album. If anyone would prefer a hardcover, the cost goes up considerably to $55 for a hard cover 11x8.5.
I am listing all classmates, then having pics from Friday, Sat picnic, and Sanders. Let me know if you have any pics that you would like included, and I'll see what I can do. Right now, I am taking the pictures off our website. Here is my e-mail shumatem@cableone.net
Take care,
Michelle Shumate

And a good guitar player to boot.
On my profile, you will find a player. I put 5 of my original songs on there (to listen just click the songs tab, the first one plays automatically). If anyone has a listen and like any of what you hear, I would be honored if you added your email to the mailing list. (no, no SPAM, I HATE spam!!!), you just become a "fan". I am currently 1272 out of 14928 on the alternative charts on reverbnation.com, and would like to move up. :) If not, that is cool, too!
You know it has been a a few weeks since the reunion and it feels like it was a dream! I am not sure what I can do to assist in the 25 yr reunion, but let me know, and I will do my best! :)

But right now Joe and I are in very Happy zones as far as work...all comes down to the good old states of CT and its taxes...and right now the yearly car taxes are killing us--we dont even drive exspensive cars and each tax is 300!! Only time will tell....Thank you for asking Tam
