George Fritsma

Calvin College, 1963–7; USAF 1968–72; Wayne State Univ 1972–76; Clin Lab Sci faculty, Univ of IL at Chicago, 1976–88; Saudi Arabia, 1990–92; faculty, Univ of AL at Birmingham (UAB), 1992–2007. Consultant to Precision BioLogic Inc, Halifax, NS and proprietor, The Fritsma Factor, Your Interactive Hemostasis Resource, 2007–present. Married Margaret Anne Giddens, whom I met in Saudi Arabia, 1992, moved to Birmingham. Margaret is also a retired Asc. Prof, Clinical Lab Sciences, UAB, and a transfusion medicine specialist. Members of Cahaba Springs Presbyterian Church, PCUSA, Trussville, AL 1997–present. Besides getting a quality education in science, math, liberal arts, and the humanities, I have attempted to model the teaching qualities of the excellent GRCH teachers and Calvin College professors.

I was a science nerd who hung out with several other science nerds, we had a great time. I have a couple of stories, but am not sure about the statute of limitations on misbehavior.

I expect to continue consulting, writing, and speaking within my specialty for a few more years, and Margaret and I hope to continue to travel for as long as we maintain our good health. Margaret now specializes in water color and gardening and I sing with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra Chorus. We plan to continue living in the Birmingham area.
