Carol Dalton Deaton Obituary

Carol Dalton Deaton, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, educator, and friend, passed away peacefully at her residence on June 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 27, 1949, in Greensboro, North Carolina, Carol lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love, reaching the age of 76.

Carol devoted over 30 years to teaching in the Guilford County Schools and also shared her knowledge as an educator at Greensboro College. Her commitment to education was unwavering, and she touched the lives of countless students with her wisdom and kindness.

A lifelong learner, Carol earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her love for history and genealogy was evident in her personal interests, which also included a deep appreciation for plants, sewing, collecting antiques, and photographing nature. Carol found great joy in traveling, especially to the mountains, and cherished spending time with her family. She was a skilled card player and enjoyed many lively games with her friends.

Carol was an active member of her community and church. She was a dedicated member of Delta Kappa Gamma and College Place United Methodist Church, where she devoted much of her time and energy. She was also a former member of the North Carolina Association of Educators.

Preceded in death by her parents, William Davis Dalton and Ollie Mae Rumley, and several siblings, Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Ed Deaton; her children, Eddie Deaton and his wife Jennifer, and Catherine Deaton and her husband Brandon Kerr; and her cherished grandchildren, Burke and Piper.

A Celebration of Life will be held at College Place United Methodist Church at a later date to honor and remember Carol's remarkable journey and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her. Her family and friends will continue to celebrate her life and the beautiful memories she created with them.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to College Place United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice in Carol's memory.
