In Memory

Patrick Carroll

Mr. Patrick Frank Carroll, 61, took his first steps in many years as he walked through the gates of Heaven on Sunday, March 6, 2011.

Pat was born on February 15, 1950 in Cumberland County. He had a genuine love of life and everything it had to offer. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church where he served as a former deacon and President of his Sunday school class. He loved to travel and was fortunate to see so much of our beautiful country during his career as a truck and bus driver. His all time favorite place to visit was Disney World, where he felt the magic every time he went.

He loved his Carolina Tarheels and took great satisfaction watching them claim the ACC title this year.
Pat was most well known for his contagious sense of humor. He was always quick with a joke or laugh and was the kind of man who never met a stranger. He was someone that people truly enjoyed being around.

Pat loved his family and was always a great and supportive son, brother, uncle, husband, Daddy and Papa. He never missed a ball game, practice, dance recital, birthday party, PTA program, family get together or any other event.

Above all, he loved his precious granddaughters, Ashley and Grace. They put a sparkle in his eye and his heart was full of love for his girls. It has been said several times that the love he felt for “his babies” was the one thing that kept him going.

Although his physical heart gave out, the love in his heart for his family and friends will go on forever. Those who knew and cared about him take great comfort in knowing he was welcomed into Heaven by his daughter, Ashley and daddy, Leon, and he is now WALKING down the streets of gold surrounded by angels.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Kathy Whitley Carroll; mother, Rachel Everett Carroll; daughter, Dana Carroll Wyrick; sister, Becky Trollinger (Ken); brother, Bobby Carroll (Norma); granddaughters, Ashley Elizabeth Wyrick and Kathryn Grace Wyrick; mother-in-law, Ruby Whitley; brother-in-law, Mark Whitley; sister-in-law, Teresa Tindall (Ron); and extended family who will all miss him very much.
