David, There's a good chance I have a connection to a professor who was at Candler when you were there. I am connected to the Wake Forest University School of Divinity and Gail O'Day was our Dean for several years beginning in 2010. She had been at Candler as a New Testament Professor and administrator since 1983 prior to coming to Wake. Hopefully your paths crossed!
