The easiest way to keep up with the count is to check the "Classmate Profiles" page. As of right now the head count is 25 classmates/spouses plus 6 more members/guests from Joey's "Wickerbachs" band. I left Leigh Ann a phone message but haven't heard back from her yet...

I'm going to try and set up a skype connection on my laptop with Lawrence Hockett who will be in Paris and Dutchess Becky Gugleman Haynes from her country estate in Switzerland. I've never used skype before so expect plenty of technical issues. ;)

I think we still have a few fence-sitters who haven't committed to coming yet. It's not too late!!

Correction: Terry Watts let me know that Lawrence is going to be in town that weekend and will be attending the reunion in person. :)

Oh happy day on the food plan for the reunion. I say... HOT DAMN!!!! It's my lucky day. You see, in the great white north they have a variety of culinary adventures. Alas... they seem to have missed the boat on the whole Brunswick Stew thing. In the fall, folks around here think about Oktoberfest foods, tailgate foods like chili, beef stew, pot roast, soups, etc. Brunswick Stew??? Not so much! In the five years I've lived in Michigan, I've had Brunswick Stew maybe twice. Maybe?!? Are you feeling sorry for me yet? It's a very sad story.

Thank you Randy and Gigi for making this possible, and for your great hospitality. It's gonna be fun. I can't wait!

Well, Gigi and I started thinking about how much room it was going to take for Joey and the guys to set up, and when we figured in the extra guests it didn't leave much room for the "table of food" we had last year. This way we can just stir the pot every now and then and everyone can eat when they feel like it.

Besides, brunswick stew is mmm mmm good! :)

Ogden Spruill

Hello classmates,

There are no words to express to you the great sense of joy and sxcitement I experienced while visiting with you today, and had I not gotten a little ill, I would have stayed until the very end. Each of us begins our life as a blank canvas, and the portrait of that life is brightened by our associations, our friendships, and our character. Having been ill for a number of years, I am comfortable knowing that my canvas was made brighter having met and experienced each one of you, and I am a better person, and I was a successful person who can trace back his paintbrushes, and his paints to Lindley Jr. High School. For those of you who don't know, I went on to be Student Government President at Grimsley, and I was an educator for 13 years at two of the top high schools in America. That success was due to my relationships with a diverse population that I first encountered at Lindley. I met genuine people who made positive contributions to my life. I sold some of the most expensive cars in the world, and I made it to the top of my craft, and yet some of the people that have impacted me the most came out of Lindley. No matter how much life I have left, no matter how little time I can share with you, I will always be joyful in my thoughts, and I am eternally grateful to Randy for the concept of a Lindley reunion, and GiGi for inviting us into their home and making us all feel a part of the group. I am grateful to each of you for making me continue to feel a part of a unique family of friends, and my portrait will hang beautifully in my daughter's memories and serve as a reminder of how important life and friends are each and every day.

Thank you so much.

Friends, I must say I haven't enjoyed many things this much in a long time. It was wonderful to see each and every one of you and I'm sorry I couldn't stay longer. Special thanks to Randy and Gigi for organizing and opening their home to us. Hope to see everyone next year if not sooner, ga

Sarah Kay (Hoyle)

I think we are at a time in life where we all understand how precious relationships are. I am so grateful to have the chance to reconnect with you all. Once again, I had a great time and only wish I had been able to stay longer and visited with more people. A BIG thank you to Randy and Gigi. Saturday was wonderful!

By the way Ogden, I don't know if you would have wanted to stay until the end...I called Barbara Bowles on the way home- around 10:30 PM, and she was still at Randy and Gigi's with a few others. That is some serious reunioning!

10/25/09 06:37 PM #153

Randy Melton

10:30 serious? Try 2:00! I don't think I even got to bed until about 3:30 (slept like a baby, though...)

Ogden, it was FANTASTIC seeing you again. And forget all that stuff about Gigi and I making you feel like a part of the group... you always WERE a part of the group. I'm sorry I didn't get to spend more one-on-one time with you and everyone else yesterday, but I stayed so busy I even lost track of my beer a few times. Having you there was icing on the cake, and I'm sure everyone else feels exactly the same way. :)

I had a chance to review the 2 hours of video I shot yesterday, and even though it didn't turn out "exactly" like I planned, it's still a fun view. Joey has the tapes and is going to burn them to DVD. As soon as I have copies I'll be mailing them out to everyone. I'll have more later in e-mail form, but thanks to everyone for helping make the day a big success. It was great seeing you all again.

I had a great time Saturday! It was so good to see everyone. Randy, bless you and Gigi for giving us all the opportunity to get together again. It stirred up some wonderful memories and puts some perspective on life now.

I posted some reunion photos on my profile. Feel free to copy them or send me a message with an email address and which ones you want and I can email directly to you.

Susan Long (Smith)

Saturday was such a significant experience for me! I loved seeing dear friends that I had not seen in years and I especially loved feeling accepted and connected to people who, regardless of my personal relationship to them in junior high school, were so instrumental in making me feel that acceptance and connection as a student. LJH was truly a special school and I feel so blessed to have been your classmate (each and every one of you whether you attended the reunion or not). When I told my current friends/coworkers that I was going to a junior high school reunion; they all looked at me as if they had never heard of such a thing and they hadn't! I can't wait to get back to them to tell them what a phenomenal experience it was. I felt such a range of emotions; but the one that describes it "best" I think, is saying I felt comfortable feeling uncomfortable and in my heart I know that only my LJH classmates could make me feel that way! My most sincere thanks to Randy and Gigi for making it possible and those that came for making it such a memorable occasion. I'm so sorry that I missed last year's reunion and I can quarantee that I will not miss (or leave as early) another! Much love to each of my dear classmates (whether you were at the reunion or not), Susan

Barbara Bowles (Armeniox)

I want to first of all thank Randy and Gigi for such a wonderful time Saturday. The location, food and hospitality could not have been better. You guys are the best!!!

Joey, thank you for sharing the band with us. You guys are awesome and I can't wait to get the DVD to hear it all over again.

It was so good seeing each and every one of you, taking pictures and sharing lots of hugs and laughs. I regret not taking a group shot of our LJH gang but in all my excitement socializing with everyone I simply forgot. I will be sending my pictures to Randy to post on the site somewhere so be on the look-out.

Becky and Terry, I wish you guys could have made it to the reunion but in your absence I sure did enjoy talking with you through the Skype connection. You both looked marvelous and the computer process was so fascinating to me.

For those who didn't make it...you've got to try a little harder next time because WE SURE DID MISS YOU!!!

Love to all,

The dvd will be delayed a little. Instead of two regular dvd's I'm going to try my first dual-layer burn.

Stay tuned... :)

11/01/09 10:21 AM #159

Randy Melton

Dual Layer burn successful! Joey let me know that he ended up with about 30 minutes or so on his camera so I'm going to try and include that as well.

The DVD is going to be "raw footage" of the camera just sitting there filming whatever was in front of it, but it's still entertaining. I thought about editing out the slower moments, but realized early on that some of the best footage was what you HEAR, not what you see. If I had to do it over again I would have done some hand-held wandering, but there's always next time! :)
