Re: Partying like it is 1978

Do you ever find yourself listening to the radio and hear a song from 1976-1978 and say to yourself, "That was a monster hit on WCOG"? Something like "Heard it in a Love Song" by the Marshall Tucker Band?

I'm really looking forward to this. WOW!!!! We all should bow down to Pherby, she rocks and rules. We should also be thankful for the opportunity for all of of us to be together again. Unfortunately, some won't be able to join us, in my usual home room, where they took attendance, 5 are are gone now. That is so sad.
How many of us graduated together? We are still missing over 400. If you know of anyone who graduated in 78, please guide them to this web site.
Pherby rocks and rules...kinduva pun there. i can't wait to see everyone again.

Y'all take care,

Dwight (Eddie) Smith

Laurann,
Please, please, PLEASE - no Karaoke. The Chinese love it and every social activity here means a trip to the KTV. As a former pro musician I am so looking forward to an event that doesn't include being subjected to offkey singing. If you must insist on it please let me know so I can leave Diana at home ;)

Karaoke's not gonna happen, so don't worry. As long as there is music & Beer, I'm there. I'll probably skip dinner though. I eat like a bird and I never eat at a party.

Pherby - great job - the site brought back great memories & few tears for those that are gone. I haven't been in NC in 14 years. As Arnold said "I'll be back" for this reunion!

Pherby, thanks for setting this up and thanks to Carter for encouraging me to participate!

High school really was one of the best times of my life. The world seemed a somewhat smaller, much safer place then. We were lucky to have really good teachers, so many activities to choose from and a great bunch of people to call classmates and friends.

The songs of those years bring back waves of memories. The Eagles had a particular song out our junior year. One day in Mrs. Puryear's 3rd Period Foreign Policy, she mentioned a treaty and how one of its signers was a "johnny come lately." The whole class quietly sang "new kid in town." She had no idea what we meant, bless her heart.

Pherby,
I applaud you for this tremendous job and reconnecting everyone!!!! Unfortunatley, I will not be able to attend the reunion. I am very disappointed but we have a yearly family vacation planned with grandparents during this time. I would like to purchase a directory. Please let me know who to send the check to and the cost. Thanks again for all of your dedication and hard work!!!!! Janet Guyes Webb

Pherby, This site is fantastic. I have spent so much time sitting here with the yearbook and this site getting the faces back with the names again.
Thanks so much for your work and leadership in getting this reunion going. I look forward to seeing you and everyone in July.
Oh, and I have to agree with Dave and Laurann. Karaoke and I have never mixed well.

Hello Pirates!

I am a 1978 Grimsley graduate, but I remember many of you from my days at Claxton Elementary. We (Grimsley alumni) are also working on our reunion and have a similar site. You can get to it by just changing the word 'Page' in the site URL to 'Grimsley'. Once there, you can check out profiles of Whirlies (what is a Whirlie, anyway?) and contact them through that site.

Please let your friends know, and if anyone knows other Whirlies who have not updated their profiles, tell them how to get hooked up.

See ya!

Kevin Austin

Hey Everyone,
The reunion is only 5 weeks away and there are a whole lot of people that have indicated that they're coming, but have not sent in their money yet...
Come on people....lets make this the best reunion Page has every had. Pherby got the ball rolling and each and everyone of us really needs to thank her in person. Also, there is a small group of people here from our class that have really stepped up, (me included) and we're have set up a lot of really cool stuff to make this one heck of a reunion. All we need now is for you to be there!!!
I am really looking forward to seeing each and every one of you at the reunion.
Cheers,
Pete Denning

Be sure and check out pagegrimsleygolf.com for the 3rd annual Page vs. Grimsley "Rivalry Reunion". The tournament proceeds go to both schools athletic departments and reward a scholarship to a male and female student/athlete from each school. Last year we raised over $24,000! Grimsley has won the first two tournaments, so sign up and help us win this year. Tournament is set for Oct. 17th, the day of the football game.

I remember when we had Sr. Day and went to school that morning for an assembly and graduation practice....(my memory is not that great for all of the details...LOL) but here is something I do remember. Maybe some of you remember it too...Mr. Clendenin spoke to us before we started the practice and he said "Look around this room...because after your graduation you ALL will never, ever be together in the same room again." This comment struck me at the time as kind of odd and it made me really sad. Only now, looking back on this, I understand what he meant. I really hope everybody who is physically able to come to this 30 year reunion will TRY to make an effort to be there. Everybody who still lives in or near Greensboro...you guys really have NO excuse for not coming!!! I mean if Bob Loomis can fly from across the country ...you need to at least try. My years at Page...and not just at Page because I went to school with most of you guys for 12 years... were so much fun...filled with tons of memories! It has been great to see faces and read what we all have done with our lives. It looks like the Page HS Class of 78 has done very well. I think our teachers would be very proud. So let's honor those who have passed away much too soon and come to this reunion. I promise you won't regret it. The more people that come..the more fun it will be!!! Hope to see ALL of you there in July...(Thanks Pherby for doing this and all the others who have contributed also)

How wonderful it is to hear about everyone! Pherby what a super way to get us all in touch with each other after so many years! I have had so much fun reading about everyone.
I haven't heard from most of you in many years. My brother Lee sees more of you than I do. He still lives in Greensboro. I on the other hand, have lived near Nags Head since 1982. I am married, but I do not have any kids, just lots of animals. I suffered a chemical exposure which nearly ended my life when I was 27. That is the real reason I do not have kids, but since I have been a teacher for over 20 years I have everyone else's kids. I'd love to see everyone, but I am not sure if I can make it to the reunion. I am working for the NC Teacher Academy as a teacher trainer, and I am just preparing to do my first session in Hickory this summer.

Thank you!! to whomever put this site together!!! Stephanie Manyor & I got together over the 4th. We learned we have girls the same age and name...Morgan & Morganne! She lives at the beach where we have a house. She walked down from the club and her daughter spent the evening with us on the 4th. I've had a terrific time catching up with her and she has a fabulous husband and son.
Because of this site, we hope to get together more often now!!!

Thanks soooo much!
