Lavin Burcham

February of 1967--started pastoring a small local church. That was about to close. Agreed to stay till they got another pastor---34 years later!! Retired from pastoring but not the ministry. Also worked at Belk (Shoe Dept.)--(Greensboro Glass)--(C.C. Dickson Co./Htg-AC-Ref). Married Loretta Bates in 1979. Had 2 children--one grand children and one on the way!!! Retired in 2016 from htg-ac-ref.--Work with my church (Harvest World Outreach Center) pastor and staff.

Remember my 12th grade, especially. Student Band Director with the Marching Band (Trips to Wilmington Azalea Parade; N-S Football Game in Charlotte; Gree nsboro Christmas Parade). Preformed at our Eagles football games. Special salutes to local industry (Vicks; P. Lorillard; Western Electric). Started the "Pep Band" for all the basketball games. Also played in the Concert Band & Orchestra. After the first semester. I worked with my Explorer Scout Program locally. Elected to serve our council at the National Conference (Bloomington, Ind.)---on to Region 6 as Vice President in Jekyll Island, Ga. Conference. Started pastoring in February of 1967. Then on senior award day Coach Claude Manzi gave me a Honorary School Letter "S" for school spirit I was totally surprised!!!!
