Morning radio personality in San Diego at 20. Same role in Dallas at 21. I am probably much too proud, but I do appreciate that I remain the highest rated radio personality in DFW history. Worked to enter the corporate ranks as soon as was possible, and began with putting a new station on the air for Danny Kaye in Cincinnati when I was 24. Became Executive VP of all McLendon Stations at 27. Dallas, Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit, Los Angeles, Buffalo. Operated 14 in all, and served company's other interest. Oil, Real Estate, and Motion Pictures. Bought our own small group of stations beginning when I was in my mid-30s with the founder of the DALLAS COWBOYS (one of two mentors) as my partner. Dottie and I owned stations in California, Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Sold all in the late '90s. Had an interest in Dallas-Ft. Worth stations until retiring 6 years ago, as an elderly and much blessed fellow. We have a son from whom we have been estranged for many years. (We reared his son Daniel, from infancy.) We have lived a wonderful life, despite the usual blips we all suffer. I am in frequent contact with a handful of classmates. Sally (White) Freeman, whom I adore. Still. Same for Humphreys ("Sam) Henderson (now, "Mrs. George") who was the older woman I still fancy. I am in regular contact with Larry (Graham) and trade political emails with Evan (Davis) a daily basis. The fault lies with me that I have not kept up with others. Too busy with my own life, is the truth. It's all on me. But, along for the ride I have had a wonderful companion. My incredibly (still!) gorgeous wife of 5+ decades. Dottie, a true southern belle, who talks with the same accent as Scarlett O'Hara's after having been away from Mobile for over a half century. As I recently told her on her 71st birthday: (She was 17...barely.. when we married) "I should have warned you in 1961...that you were marrying a most difficult man...but, you will be greatly loved!" And, so it was: The blessings of God, Himself.
