Hey Everybody,

Got a message from our classmate Larry Davidson this morning. He was wondering about Judy Houston. Larry and Patsy were friends of Judy and her first husband, Curtis Pace (who was a friend of mine). Larry saw where she passed away and wondered about her death. Does anyone know the circumstances of her death? Or where Curtis is?

Hey Kenny........The Reets...remember them. Jimmy P Angie was the lead singer (I think) and I recall Austin Meeks seemed to be a great guitar player. I thought they were pretty good back in the day. What ever happened to those guys?

TOMMY BEAVERS TO GET HIM OUTSIDE BEFORE HE WENT TO JAIL.
WE WERE CALLED THE CHANGING TYMES THEN. WE PLAYED THERE A COUPLE OF TIMES AND SO DID THE CANDY SHOESTRING.WE MOSTLY PLAYED ON MOON LAKE AT CONWAYS.THEY MADE US THE HOUSE BAND AND GAVE US A 3 BEDROOM CABIN TO STAY IN. I HAD A GREAT TIME STAYING THERE.17 YEARS OLD AND REALLY CLOSE TO MEMPHIS,LORDY,LORDY.YOU KNOW THE GIRLS THEN LOOKED LIKE OLDER WOMEN BECAUSE THEY WERE 21 TO 25 YEARS OLD AND ME 17,SOMETIMES I HAD A HARD TIME DANCING WITH OLDER WOMEN. I NEEDED DANNY HALL THERE TO SHAKE A LEG LOL. DANNY USED TO FOLLOW US WHEN WE PLAYED. HE EVEN WENT TO MEMPHIS TO THE COLISIUM WHEN WE PLAYED THERE. GOOD OLE DAYS. KENNY

Sorry that I'm not writing each of you individually but please know that I really appreciate your fondness of the CD from the reunion and letting me know that you can't stop singing the songs, dancing and remembering the fun that was our youth. The CD brings back happy memories of carefree times.Since the weekend was shortlived, the intent was for us to remember the fellowship and the music and dancing as we relived the carefree days gone by.I really enjoyed making the CD and your thank you notes are reward enough.
The reunion was a great success,to say the least, but I do have one regret.I truly wish that more of our parents were alive to see the products that they placed in this world. They would be so proud to know how well we all turned out. Those of you that still have a parent left, don't let a day go by without telling them thank you for the wonderful way that we were raised.
P.S. Jim and Beverly Wallace,I would love to pull up in the car next to you and watch you sing and dance. You were so kind to send that note.

Hey, I am here. I have been helping Leroy with moving from one field to another. (after work) He is putting water on beans.
And, I am helping a young boy who lives five miles from me finish high school early. He is taking senior English and US Govt this summer. He was featured on MPB for taking the Latin II exam when he had only completed Latin I. He was afraid to tell them that he had the wrong test. He scored fifth in the State on an exam that he should not have taken!!! His dad really
is making it hard because he has chores and babysitting for him to do and it does not leave much time for studies. (Leroy says his dad is a loser and lazy. His children do his work. The second grader came out smelling like Pine Sol and had cleaned the whole house before 3:00.)
His name is Ulyses so keep him in your prayers. He wants to go to Mississippi College and major in pre-med. If we pull this off I will be calling on all of you in the Jackson area to help mentor this precious child. Your friend and classmate, Jobana

Kenny and Scooter,

The Reets were great. They were from Cleveland. Austin Meeks was a great guitar player. The lead singer Jimmy Pamianci dated one of the Cefalu girls from Leland. They also had a band member, Ricky McWorter. I remember they played for Hollondales graduation. They had the first B3 organ and Leslie speaker I had ever seen in person. The played Itchycoo Park and sounded just like the orignal by Small Faces.

Kenny, thank you for such a sweet compliment. I have been trying to catch up at work and at home. George, again thank you for the CD. I got in the traffic stopped for the train going home yesterday and had a 30 minute wait. I had the CD going as loud as I could get it and everyone around me was dancing!! Maybe it prevented alot of tempers being lost while waiting. Jobana, it must be a wonderful feeling to help a child in that situation with such a wonderful future ahead of him with your help. Susan has been at the beach all week and should be on her way home. I miss laughing and talking with her on the phone so Susan get home!! Marvin had shoulder surgery a few weeks ago and from what I have heard is doing fine.
Everybody have a great weekend and stay in touch please!

P.S.-Chad, still want to go fishing!!

Jobana,
I really hope and pray that this young man makes it. He has a lot on the ball. I don't even think that they are teaching Latin in some of the schools here in TX, because Spanish is so prevelant. Anyway, you are a blessing to him and to all you've helped like this.

The Reets were playing at the Downtowner in January 1966 and my dad let me take our Ford Falcon to the dance even though I wouldn't get my license until February.I picked up Joe Sherman and Chris Shapley but we had to be home by eleven even though the dance lasted til twelve. The Reets called up Marty Kuhn out of the audience and he walked up,sat down at the drums and sang Len Barry's,1- 2-3 just like the record.Every time I hear that song I can see the Reets and Marty Kuhn singing and that's one of the reasons it made it to the class CD. The rest of
the story is that on the way home we stopped at Shipley's.We joked that it was pretty sad that while everyone else at the dance would later be smelling perfume and drinking beer,we three dorks were smelling donuts and drinking chocolate milk!!

GEORGE ,IF I WERN'T A DIABETIC I WOULD BE AT SHIPLEYS RIGHT NOW TRYING TO INHALE A DOZEN HOT DONUTS AND DRINK A HALF GALLON OF CHOCOLATE MILK.I WOULD NOT HAVE A HANGOVER IN THE MORNING EITHER.RONNIE SWEET AND I WENT TO HOLLANDALE TEEN CLUB WITH OUR GIRLFRIENDS ONE YEAR AND GOT TO HERE THE ZOMBIES OF ALL PEOPLE. THEY WERE GREAT.YOU HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE LIKE MEMPHIS NASHVILLE OR JACKSON TO A CONCERT TO HEAR SOMEONE FAMOUS NOW. THEY USE TO PLAY FOR DANCES AND THINGS,BUT NOT ANYMORE.WHILE I WAS IN JACKSON THE FIRST OF THE WEEK I SAW WHERE DARRELL HARGROVE,I AM SORRY DWIGHT YOKEM WAS GOING TO BE THERE SOMETIMES NEXT MONTH.I KEEP GETTING HIS NAME MESSED UP SINCE THE MOVIE SLINGBLADE CAME OUT.I HATED HIS GUTS IN SLINGBLADE.WE CANT PLAY OR SING DARRELL WE AN=IN,T GOT NO DAMN SPEAKERS AND A DAMN MICHROPHONE.HA HA. ALSO GEORGE I STARTED CARRING A B3 AND LESLIE IN 1970
AND WE STOPED USEING THEM IN 2005,BUT I STOPPED CARRING THEM A LONG TIME AGO. THERE'S NO OTHER SOUND IN THE WORLD LIKE THEM THOUGH. KENNY

Hey Chad, just got home from church. So hot outside! I think everybody is trying to stay cool. I am heading to Talla, FL next Thursday for the 4th. Really looking forward to it. Susan got home yesterday I think but have not talked to her yet. Hope she had fun but I am sure she did. I do want to plan a trip to go fishing when I get back. Love to fish!!!

06/29/09 08:58 AM #2063

Marilyn Kelly (Palmer)

Chad, I promise you do not want to go deep sea fishing with me. I have motion sickness so bad! I can't even watch the rides at the carnival without getting sick. It started when Ellen Gowan and I went to the carnival in jr high school and rode everything we could. The last ride we got on was the ferris wheel and that did it. I got sick from the very top and Ellen turned green...LOL Never been the same since. How about just fishing from a small boat on a lake or off the dock. That's more my style!! Have fun in Destin, I plan on having a great time Talla.
Don't get to see my sister, Caron, but about twice a year.

Danny, George, Susan (you're back!), Debbie B., Kenny, Linda, Scooter, Lynn G. Joe & M.P., Jobana, where are you and what are your plans for the 4th. I think one of you needs to have a big 4th of July party and invite the class of 69. We didn't quite finish the party!!

Morning GHS. Hope everyone is having a great day. It is and has been over 102 for over two weeks, and no rain since before the reunion. Grounds are cracking, and plants are dying. We did enjoy the 78-80 degree weather in MS, and Linda's Mom said that it was supposed to be 66 in Paducah, KY last night. The computer says 89 as I type this, but I think it is in the 90's and getting hotter. Oh, well, we are alive and kicking, so we shouldn't complain.

Marilyn,
I am finally back home(in my house). Have not been here since May 12. Glad to be back.
You are right, did not get to visit nearly enough at the reunion. Did not realize that Caron lived in Tallahassee. Our youngest daughter and her husband went to FSU and we spent many weekends up there during the 4 years they were there. Great city. Enjoy your sister and the 4th of July!!!
HAPPY 4th of JULY to all

George,
Still lovin my CD.
Again, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, for all of the time, effort and generousity that went into making this for all of us!!! Think I will do some more listening on the upcoming holiday weekend.. This great music brings back some great memories.

Hey everyone,

I have not had much PC time but y'all have still been near and dear to my heart:)

Marilyn-
Yesterday I had the 60's music blasting to 'Build Me Up Buttercup'! Everyday I play George's CD, it takes me back to the reunion and the renewed relationships. FUN!

Chad-
We have been in and out of town and will be through August but I am glad y'all are enjoying the summer. Hope to see you/Nancy before too long though.

Kenny, Mike, Lynn,Scooter,Randy and all-
I have enjoyed the updates on everyone...a nice way to keep up!

Jobana-
What time should I come for dinner?? YUM! (prefer the homegrown veggies..not the 'dillos' please:)

George-
Joe and I have 6 requests for the CD..Everyone loves it!

Joe D.-
We got no visiting time Sat. when the band took breaks because NO ONE wanted to leave when you were playing. You have such a gift. Thanks you for sharing it with us. My hope is that at our next reunion you will play for us all Friday night. If St.Joe doesn't want to combine Friday, then GHS claims 'dibbs' on you!!:)

Susan-
Did we leave you enough sun?? Welcome home! We missed you!

As a sidebar: Though I think Joe and I got everyone their hotel gift bags at The Hampton, we did miss a few of you at the Harlow. Tried to catch a few people leaving the GCC but not all. We promise to make it up to those we missed at the 45th:)
Hope we all stay at the same place next time..Sure added to the fun! Becky, your son was so helpful. Congrats to him in his new venture. We loved Rita as well!

We are on our way to Greenville for the 4th to spend it with Joe's beautiful mother and sisters and families. St. Joe is having a mass in honor of Joe's dad so this will be a special 4th for us. We will also give thanks for all of you that have served our country and for those currently taking such good care of us. (Big hug to Chism's son, Blas, who is one of those special ones.)

Have a great holiday and be safe.
In the GHS bonds with love,
MPA

Happy 4th of July to everyone! We did have a wonderful reunion. I would put our reunion up against the best of them!!!

Lynn, so glad you made it home and I know Tommy is glad you are home too. Don't know if your daughter was ready for Mimi to leave yet. Caron and Chip have lived in Talla. for at least 20 years and love it. I love to visit...we have the best time. I will tell her you said hello.

Chad, don't catch any fish until I get back!

Kenny, you stay cool!

MP and Joe - have fun in Greenville. I always do!!!!

Jobana - I keep getting a visual of you chasing an armadillo and it is comical. We planted late tomatoes
yesterday. Love veggies!!

Susan - MY BFF !!! I'll bet you are strutting around your office showing off your tan while I am lily white. I would! See you when I get back. Big plans!!!

Debbie B., Cheryl P.,Danny H.,where are you??

I love you all and have a safe 4th of July !!!

07/01/09 11:25 AM #2071

Jobana,
I understand the dillo, as we used to have woods behind us and they kept coming up to the flowerbeds to get water. When it is dry, they come out big time. Also we had a possum in the garage one night. Linda thought it was a big rat til she got a good look at it. She says it is a big rat.
Kenny,
I definitely know the song. Also, we did get a cloud coverage to take some of the heat off for a couple of days. Went from 103 to 89, but now will be creeping back up. No real rain.

Hope everyone has a great 4th. MP, you and Joe, have a great 4th and stay safe. George you will always be remembered for the CD. Maybe we can talk Joe D. into cutting one for us.

Happy 4th of July, to All.

Mike
