Hey Yal....have enjoyed "listening" to you write. Have not been on the site in some time......

Ricky...sooo sorry to hear about your momma. I just got on the forum for the first time in some days. So, I just found out about it. I am fortunate to have Momma still around and in fairly good health. Since we have been fortunate to make it almost into old age, all of our living mommas are pretty old now. You know it doesn't make any difference if momma was old or if momma had been in bad health for a while or if Momma is in a better place, Momma is still Momma. We only had one and when she is gone a very large piece of our life is missing. We walk on, but with a noticable limp without her. I know several of you have lost your momma this year. I know it has been very hard for you. Mitzi and I have thought about you and we have prayed for you.

Chad...we are also thinking of your daddy-in-law. One more trip to the beach coming up....go with us.

Yal stay cool.

Hey everyone. My Ulysses did not get enough scholarship/financial aid to go to Mississippi College so he is off to Oxford tomorrow to see what Ole Miss has to offer. Leroy and I will go to church this morning and to the Highland Club at Lake Washington for lunch. After lunch Hank Burdine will take us for a spin around the lake on his new fancy raft.
My friend Brucie McKamy and I have purchased a pontoon boat. It should be delivered this week. We are so proud of ourselves and can't wait to get it in the water. Oh, and learn how to drive it??? We think we will name it the Happy Blonde.

Jobana, tell Brucie I said hello. I did not know the two of you were good friends...she was always a hoot. She probably would say the same about me! Have fun on the boat. :)

Danny, What happened to our DI get together. I never heard from you. Looked for your bus or your boat on the water. I guess I could have called. There's still a month of summer left. Let me know if you are there.By the way if the Empress finks out on the Kobe beef for Chad, my ex wife's 2nd cousin's nephew by marriage works at El Gaucho in Aruba and could hand cut and deliver some of that prime Argentinian beef. He could fly it up on the next Hurricane! On a more serious note, Debbie, tell Bill and Peggy that I am thinking of them and the girls. I'm sure that they're in the best of hands.

Enjoyed the Roy Meeks photos from the reunion. They brought back lots of fun memories of everyone and makes me wish we could get together every year!

Randy,

DI has not happened yet. The boat is still at the freakin shop. They told me it would be done by the 4th weekend! Guess what? Just haven't gotten to it yet. Tell me this economy is at a stand still. Don't believe it!

My in law's cousins mother by my 3rd marriage the Empress of Japan must have had her phone disconnected or else I had a permanently dropped call!

So, I am all for the El Gaucho in Aruba, especially hand cut. I like it about 3 fingers think. Opps wrong terminology for an OBGYN, excuse me! Anyway I like a nice thick cut medium well.

As for the Hurricane bringing it in. With property on the Gulf either you have damn good insurance or memory loss. I will fly down and get it myself in a month or so. I have not done my solo yet but it is coming!

Your menu is most interesting. It has my salivary glands dripping with saliva in the mouth and palate. Especially in anticipation of the "Monkey Brains" and good down home "Southern Jungle Rat".

surgery undate:
peggy will have her surgery in san francisco on monday, august 3rd. it will take about 9 hours and the family will not be able to see her until tuesday. she will go to a strick icu unit and will be monitored very, very closely. they, at first, had said the procedure could be done through the nose...that has changed. they will go somewhere in her head. please, please continue to pray for them...take away the anxiety, give them peace, and comfort, and of course, what we want...complete healing.
you can go to:
www.caringbridge.org...create a free account if you do not have one...type...peggybeckman. this site gives you her story, updates on her progress, and a guestbook where you can sign in whenever you want to and leave a message. again, thank you for all your prayers.

Chad,
You are right about trying new foods. I am usually pretty brave about doing that. Tried lots of new foods in Italy, and liked them all!!! Wish I had more opportunities to travel to other countries. Maybe I could have someone order for me and not tell me what I am eating!!! Have a good weekend...

Debbie
Will be thinking and praying for your family. I have been on Caringbridge many times.(Great site) Had an extended family member being treated at Vanderbilt and kept up with her progress through this site. She is at home in Clarksdale and doing very well..and still posts on this site...

Chad, that menu sounded yummy! Not!!! By the way, I wonder who ever cracked open that first raw oyster and said, Damn! that looks like it would taste good! Danny. Hate to hear about your boat, but I'll be here whenever it happens. If not, I'll be making my monthly Mississippi excursions beginning labor day weekend and might drop by. Come on Lynn, You and Tommy could try some of those canal rats down there. Chad could give you the recipe and you could get the fish head soup from Kenny for an Appetizer.

To Everyone Who Was At Eli's Friday night,

I had a wonderful time Friday night. As you said Susan, great friends and great food. Ely's is awesome for those of you from Greenville who haven't eaten there. Plus you won't find better people than the Shapley's. It was great seeing Richard and Chris, Chris's wife, and Richard's son. I have great memories of growing up in Greenville and playing baseball with both Chris and Richard. To Jim, we weren't terribly close in High School, but I always respected you and looked up to you as an inspiration and leader. You emulate the expression "Speak softly and carry a big stick". I have really enjoyed the time we have spent at the reunion and now in Ridgeland. Susan, you know I'm crazy about you. I love your spunk, sense of humor, and just general personality. I know you'll think I'm bullshitting but you're still as pretty as you were in high school. I envy you and Jim that you have survived the years together and having been married .....a few......times,lol, I wish I had found the same. You know, life deals similar hands to all of us during life. It's not the events, it's how you handle them and decisions you make. I'm still learning. Marilyn, I always admired you from afar like most of the other girls, who I didn't think would be very interested in me. You are still the same person I remember in High School. Very popular but not one to seek a lot of attention. You just handled it well. I've enjoyed being around Randy. He is a lot of fun, and fits right in. At least I think so. He may have gotten home and said "that is a crazy bunch of folks, especially Sambo", but at the very least he is a very tolerant person. I enjoyed seeing Amy and Keith. Amy was just a young girl when I was running with Pat in Greenville. She has grown up and is not the young girl I remember, kind of in the background and never drawing any attention to herself. Like her brother, she is full of life and it was energizing to be in her presence. Her husband Keith is a cool guy. Very laid back but I suspect intense at times. He and I share at least one guilty pleasure. And Pat, what can I say. Pat is Pat. He and I literally grew up together. Both went to the same church, same schools, and were inseparable. Pat is everything I would like to be. Himself. Everybody knows that Pat is a person who speaks his mind and can be a bit intimidating. I know him differently as a person who has always been there for me even when I didn't always make myself available like I should. Thank God Pat is Pat. In a culture where it is difficult to find people you can trust and who are also fun to be around, I have truly been blessed. I miss you guys and many others who weren't there either for the reunion or Friday night. I sincerely hope that we don't let time get away from us again. Maybe we should set at least a quarterly time when we all meet somewhere, have dinner, hang out, or whatever.

Sambo

Hey Y'all. Just got back from a wedding shower in Vicksburg. My nephew is getting married. Debbie Thrash was there. She eased up to me and I recognized her right away. She is a member of the church where the shower was. It was a great visit and I look forward to the wedding so I can meet her family. I feel so blessed and so does she. God is good.
Hey, did I miss a fun night in Jackson?

08/02/09 08:29 PM #2148

Peggy Lynn Gresham (Fisher)

Jobana,
Sounds like some of our classmates had a really fun time in Jackson!! Wish I could have been there too. I regret that I did not get a chance to visit with some of you at the reunion. Wish I could have been in Jackson for this get together. I am so glad that the reunion brought us all together and seems to be helping us get together in smaller groups, whenever and where ever, we can. I hope that we will all continue to do that. I look forward to seeing some of you again in October when FL plays MSU in Starkville...

Randy
About those rats...NOT HAPPENING...You and Chad and Danny can eat all of those you want. Don't save me any!!!!The most "out there" thing I have eaten is wild boar. I have to say that was really good.

Sambo
