Meriwether,

I am in the middle of the next book......incredible read. It is required reading for US Senior Military Commanders. It has been read by General David Petraeus, Admiral Mike Mullen, SOCOM Special Forces Commander. It really moves fast and is the story of Greg Mortenson, a former mountain climber, and his dedication and humanitarian efforts to promote education and literacy in rural areas i.e. Pakistan. "Three Cups Of Tea" which has sold 3 million copies and a New York Times best seller for 120 weeks since January 2007. We are going to see him live at a speaking engagement at Principia College in Elsah, Il. in October. He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2009 this year. You will be touched and enlightened from start to finish.

Hope All Is well, Danny

Sam (Sambo) Fleming

You know it's a sign of our aging that so many things are going on with family that seem unbearable. None of us are immuned, and for me it reinforces my philosophy of life that you have to live each day to its fullest. There is a saying that I have posted in my office made by Abraham Lincoln that "It's not the years in the life but the life in the years". I am saddened by all that is going on with my classmates and their families. Losing my mother has been my greatest loss. I now have to sit by and watch as my father's health fails him. We are making the most of the time the Lord is giving us with him. We have season tickets to the Ole Miss football games and that of course includes my father and we take him to baseball games at Ole Miss as often as he feels up to it. He loves Ole Miss as I do.

Frank and Raynor you have both been in my thoughts and prayers since I heard about Frank. Frank we were always great friends and I hate to hear that you are going through such a difficult time. All the cliches will not alter your pain, but just know that I love you like a brother. Though our lives have taken different paths I will always remember "the good ole days" and the smile you always had on your face.

Marilyn,
I am just looking forward to seeing everyone. Tommy is a much more serious Gator fan than I am. Our oldest daughter graduated from there(thus the Gator season tickets) and our youngest graduated from Florida State. I wear both shirts and also am a big Ole Miss fan. I just enjoy college football!!!! Can't wait to see all you guys..Going to be a fun weekend!!!

Sam, Where are your Ole Miss seats? I would like to see your father on Saturday, if he will be there. We are in section D.

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

Frank and Rayner - I love you both.

Chad - Hummingbirds, I love them, but they don't like Camden. We see very few in our area, and I am always looking for them, and keep the feeders full. Believe it or not, when I was a little girl, I caught one in a mayonaise jar. My Mother liked to have freaked out when I brought the jar inside. As I learned that day, those little Hummingbirds can be hazardous to your health!

Sam - be safe traveling this weekend, and please tell your Dad that Jim and I said hello.

Hugh - I have had you and Karen on my mind for several days, thinking about old times. So many great memories of band, and of course, Karen and I taking dancing with Miss Hickman.

MP - where are you?

Marvin - Coming to Cleveland this weekend for Pig Pickin'
Hope to see you and Kathleen.

Marilyn - how 'bout those trampolines??????????

MRA 22 - JA 21!

09/15/09 10:50 AM #2237

Peggy Lynn Gresham (Fisher)

Susan, I did not remember that you took dance lessons from Miss Hickman.(not a surprising thing the way my brain works these days) Karen and I went to a dance camp together one summer, in Texas. Ask her to tell you about that place!!! What an experience!!! I took lessons from Miss Hickman from 3rd grade through high school. Jobanna also took from her. She was the acrobat!!! I think they called it something else back then. Some guy(that we all thought was sooo cute) use to flip her around. WOW Have not thought about that in years!!!

09/15/09 10:57 AM #2238

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

Lynn,

Randy Bentley and I started dance lessons with Mrs Griffin, Cherri's mother, in elementary school. (Randy was quite the little dancer!) When Mrs. Griffin quit, I went to Miss Hickman. I quit when we started on toe, but I wish I hadn't.

Our recitals were really wonderful productions. Seems like we had some recitals with Mikie Jackson's dancers. They were so exciting to me!

Hop, step and flap back one!

Jobana Gaye Larson (Frey)

Lynn, it was Adagio. I started with Almyra when I was four and switched to Miss Hickman around the sixth grade I think. No wonder all my joints ache!! I am also afraid of heights now.

09/15/09 12:43 PM #2240

Peggy Lynn Gresham (Fisher)

Susan and Jobana,
I started dance lessons when it was downtown somewhere(either on Washington or Main kind of close to the levee). It was on a corner in a big old building(maybe an old bank). I am pretty sure it was Ms. Hickman. Then she moved to the ally(right behind her house) between St. Joe and GHS. I remember going to Almira Jackson's recital's to watch other friends, and also remember ours. So much fun! Jobana, Who was the cute guy?? I can see him.. We all thought he was soooo good looking. You were really good too!!! Susan, I continued to take toe, tap, and jazz. I guess I just couldn't get enough!! I think I can still do those time steps and also my 1-5 positions in ballet...(that is about all)Wow. We had such a neat place to grow up and such great memories!!!

09/15/09 12:50 PM #2241

Peggy Lynn Gresham (Fisher)

Randy,
Forgot to address this in my other post. Randy, I had no idea you took dancing. I do kind of remember Cherrie's mom teaching though. Too funny. Randy you've been holding out on me. You never told me about this common interest we shared back in the day!!!! BTW you are still a good dancer!!! Where are you Randy Bently?? This may bring you back on the forum!!!!

09/15/09 02:21 PM #2242

Susan Hughes (McCarty)

I think Miss Hickman's first studio was across the street from the post office. Wasn't it below where Frank Dantone's office is now?

09/15/09 03:08 PM #2243

Peggy Lynn Gresham (Fisher)

Susan,
That is it.I thought there was a law firm there now, just could not remember who it was. That is where I started taking from her.I really don't remember how old I was. Maybe 3rd grade. Wow that was a long time ago...
Good memory Susan!!!

09/15/09 03:13 PM #2244

Jobana Gaye Larson (Frey)

I think it was Jahalya Jackson's daddy and uncle!!!!

09/15/09 06:24 PM #2245

Peggy Lynn Gresham (Fisher)

Jobana,
Are you saying that Jahalya's dad and uncle were the adagio guys? I am talking about when you took from Ms. Hickman. Would they have been helping there too? Maybe you are answering another question and I am confused..

09/16/09 08:00 AM #2246

Jobana Gaye Larson (Frey)

Yes, Lynn I was talking about dancing with Almyra. I will have to dig deep into my brain to think of the guys who helped Miss Hickman. I do remember that they dropped me once. Maybe I fell on my head and that's why I can't remember their names :(
