Wow, good job on that one. We took hook, line, and sinker. "Chaulk One Up For Mighty Mouse"! Very Clever!

Hello to everyone------I am just now looking at this Message Forum after many months, and Frank and I see all the nice inquiries about us. Friendships from so long ago really are so important, and knowing that you guys care makes us feel so loved. Things are difficult here in Durham-------dying of melanoma is not a pretty thing. Frank still has his never-ending sense of humor, so we have laughs every day, especially remembering things from the past which includes many Greenville memories. But the pain and discomfort is tremendous for him at times. It is very hard for me and our children to see, but please know that we are taking great care of him. Your continuing thoughts and prayers are so appreciated and needed by us--------please pray for freedom from pain for Frank and peace for our entire family. Love, Rayner

Rayner, Frank, and family...you are loved by all of us and you were in our thoughts and prayers at the reunion. Memories are such beautiful things and no one can ever take those away from us! Tell Frank to keep that strong sense of humor no matter what. And we will continue to pray for all of you!

Frank, I was thinking about you the other day and remembering the time we all spent in the National Guard in the early 70's particularly those hot summer camps at Camp Shelby. It's probably a good thing that noboby in your group of cooks ever decided to try and make a living as a chef.

I remember Tommy Fisher sleep walking and jumping out the back of a deuce and a half at 2:00AM and landing in pile of pots and pans and you chasing him through the woods trying to wake him up. Sometimes it was like being in the boy scouts WITHOUT the adult supervision. It was a great time in our lives.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Rayner, and family.

Mike,

All I can say to you is that was a d.... long time ago! So it is about time "Mighty Mouse". By the way, what is the origin and history behind that name?

Dear Rayner and Frank,
It is so reassuring to know that Frank has been able to maintain his sense of humor through these difficult times. The way I figure it, God didn't give him that legendary smile as wide as the world for nothing! With love to you and your family.

Coach Fergson was using me as a blocking dummy for Jan Gwin and Joe Hart. They would knock the hell out me but I keep coming back. So he said I looked like Mickey Mouse and the name took.

Frank and Rayner,

Know that we continue to pray for you, and I think you have some of the best support you could ever have from this class. Even though we all went our separate ways, this website has been a God send for being able to keep up with each other. May God bless and keep you in his loving arms.

Class of 69'
Keep me in your prayers as I am fighting a bout with shingles.

Thanks,
Mike

Phillip,
I just read this to Tommy, who I might add, remembers it well!!!Thank goodness he does not sleepwalk any more. He has replaced that with snoring!!! The fact that Tommy and Frank were cooks, is a very scary thing. Definitely not a strength of Tommy's today...There is no evidence that he ever did anything that required cooking!!

Frank,
I never knew you chased him through the woods I am sure it was not funny then,(certainly not to him) but I must say I have laughed many times telling that story, including reading it to him today. Tommy and I have lots of funny stories and memories with you and Rayner..We love you both lots, lots lots!!!!!!

Frank & Rayner,

Great hearing from ya'll. I don't think life would ever had been the same without Frank in my life. The motorcycle wrecks, fishing hooks, rolling "toilet paper" at the wrong houses, learning all houses that look empty are not, learning never to buy 25 rolls of toilet paper at Favas Grocery at one time, learning how to "Unroll" unempty houses and have cookies and milk with the little old lady we didn't know was in the unempty house, falling off the second story roof of his house, hitting parked caddys with VW's and knocking them 75 yards into falcons totaling everything what fun, going 90 miles an hour in your shared mustang with Jo & Dexter wondering if we got killed would the girls weep and miss us, Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba Barbaran, Alamat late night fun, Downtowner & Armory dances, pep rallys, class of "69" homecoming parades, we drink whiskey we drink wine we're the class of "69", Greenway Park hut dances, slow dancing to "I'm Mr Lonely" at Burnley's house, hiding in the bushes under MPA's window listening to all their comments about Ya'll none about me, loosing turtle in car wreck when hitting motorcycle Tommy you're lucky that happened she was my almost first car date, touch football at "Cunningham's", HEL.. Hall England & Long hampster farm, You & Bobby's fight in my front yard, me getting knocked over 3 cars by Paul Abraham, your fight at the monkey store with that Sherman guy, those wonderful honey buns for breakfast at your house, getting picked up by Roy Long with beer, Mosow's wonderful party's, after midnight rides, spiking punch at the "Brownie Ball's", watching "House" roll his dads VW 7 times and get out and ask us, Do ya'll think my daddy will notice the dents, crazy names like Rooster, Catfish, Possum, Mole, Gator, Baboon, and even "RAT", "The Rat Pack",holding hands with our girl friends from the football stadium to your house at least you and Bobby I was solo never could keep up with ya'll with girls, I was always K.... Clown remember you called me that, sneaking out of my house to meet the you know who girls, Ibsen's pool party's, pool at Clainy's if lucky enough to get invited, Doe's graduation party's, convertibles(try to name everyone that had one)shocking, calling prank calls to Brownie houses, filling the bathtub up with water to sober up Doug forgetting to turn the water off flooding everything and caving the ceiling on the mans head downstairs, getting evicted the following morning, driving around Strazi's for years until it was our turn to have the inside, Bayou Road adventures, Rosemary's Baby at the Drive Inn, The Graduate oh Mrs Robinson was so "Hot",The Sandbar watching you know who ski "Topless" used to be exciting, School Boy Punch, PBR & Quarts at lunch from Seaton's, Catfish Point with RJB, Levee adventures, stealing hidden other peoples stolen beer, your wonderful Dad & Mother sittin by the fire place telling us not to stay out too late, in the front door at 11:00PM out the window at 12:00 Midnight, Moyse party's, Meriwether party's, "The Thep's, what a band, Indianola party's, Memphis trips, remember the old 14, how bout beating Highway Patrol road blocks in your mustang by going down cotton rows and ending up in Memphis 16 years old with several cases of beer iced down in Long's lap. So many things I can't mention, Hell I've got to stop somewhere. The memories of our Greenville Mississippi days and growing up will always be embedded in my life as some of the fondest and most cherished memories of my entire life. As we all went our separate ways I recall a sadness and remember the actual day I left Greenville knowing I could never return. I remember my last meeting with you in Memphis and the extreme focus you had in becoming a Doctor, I couldn't even get you to drink a beer with me, damn. I never could figure out how you could hang out with a bunch of guys like us and turn out so great. I know now "Frank" you are just an exceptional "GREAT GUY". I Love You Frank and Thanks For Being In My Life!

I'm so glad Phil reminded me that Frank and Tommy were our Nasty Guard cooks!...When we would have our monthly meeting the sargeant would ask at the start of them. " Alright, who wants to volunteer for KP duty this weekend?" The sargeants considered this sticking us with hard drudge work over the weekend. We would all hold our heads down as not to get chosen. "Bowman, Parrot, Gamble etc...You've got KP". Well after spending one weekend peelin' some potatoes, hangin' out with Frank and Tom, servin' a liitle food, playin' cards after lunch, cleanup & then napping PM...I had fallen in love with KP duty. So for the next three months they would ask for volunteers for KP, and I would reluctantly raise my hand. They would say "You Bowman". More cards and naps after spending the morning laughing at Frank and Fish. Finally I raised my hand the 4th month, and the Sargeant yelled at me "Bowman, you can't have KP damnit!"...They had caught on. My good thing had come to an end... Those were the days weren't they Frank and Fish? To this day I am eternally grateful and thankful for the memories from the National Guard. You end up getting to know such a deversived group of people.........& you got to miss out on Vietnam. Thank God!!
I'm thinkin bought ya' Frank, old friend. Clainy

Goodness, I just remembered a large part of my life while reading Danny's email. I still remember very well the dances held in my garage with the sprinkles we put on the floor to make us slide better! I have an album still with pictures of us all. I remember being too tall for most of the boys other than Bill Carroll? Frank was always the cute guy who lived at the end of my street, and that smile of his was mesmorizing. I did not mind finding new ways to get into trouble with him and the neighborhood gang. And I remember riding around with the RAT PACK while they picked up their girlfriends. I was just another one of the guys, I think, and that was fine with me! Rayner and I rode bikes to school all the time. We had lots of sleepovers. I can still remember riding around in Danny's yellow bug....it was an icon at the time.

One thing about life, nothing can ever take our memories from us. They are so precious.

Lastly, I remember being in my room for hours with my pink princess phone on the table...the Strangers practicing for hours on the other end. How very cool was that?

Rayner and Frank, keep all the memories close to your heart. We love you.

Wow!!! You definitely stirred up some memories with that post. Some of them I distinctly remember being a part of and some I only remember hearing about. Wonder if our parents knew we snuck out??? Probably not!!!
I also have very fond memories of Frank's mom and dad. Spent many summer nights at that house with Frank's cousin Karen. So much fun!!
You have a way with words and story telling "Gator" Hall. You should write a book based on our youth!!! Thanks for sharing your memories with us on this forum.

That WAS one Hell of a post Gator!!! I agree with Lynn. Please write a memoir of our youth....I heard of many of those stories. Remembering Catfish Point too w/ RJB, Joe and you. Had a date with Susie Fisher once and Joe Dantone doubled with us w/ Ladell Sherman. We took them to Catfish Point, drank and listened to the Beatles of course. Can't believe they are both gone...Didn't you ride a St Bernard around town in your bug?

Thanks for the memories Gator! Keep it up. Life is good. clainy

Frank,
I have a story to share with you...Do you remember stealing(or taking home for overnight visit) Susie's dog. You had a date with her and when you took her home, you took "Lady"(their cocker spaniel) home with you. I was staying at your house that night with Karen, and your mom was not happy when someone else's dog showed up at your house. Tommy said the return of Lady was an even funnier story. Your parents and her parents did not think it was funny, but we all laughed hysterically!!!! There are so many stories like this that still put a smile on my face today...I hope I just put one on yours.... Love to you and Rayner...

Wow..Gator! What a memory!!

Frank and Rayner,
My favorite 'Frank' story:
Frank and I had a date for the graduation dance. After the 'Alamatt party', everyone headed for the dance with 'John Fred and the Playboys' (I think). On the way, Frank decided to pick up a hitchhiker and we took him to Arkansas and dropped him off before heading back to the dance. (And ...yes..there had been a weeeeee bit of alcohol distributed by 'unknown sources' at the Alamatt... Probably some SBP, as well, Gator) Though I thought for sure our passenger would pull a knife on us, evidently he was thrilled to be let out of the car across the bridge! Frank, I don't think I saw you again for the rest of the night until we were all supposed to meet at Jobana's for after the dance brunch. You promptly took me home, pulled in the drive, looked at me and put the car in reverse as if to say..Get Out..HA! AS IF...!!!
I, of course, refused to open the door and get out; At that point I guess you decided it was easier to unload me at the Larson's!!:) Rayner, I'm still trying to remember who you had a date with.. Joe and I still laugh about that!
Frank and Rayner..It goes without saying how much I love you guys:) MP

CLASSMATES!!!
One of my family traditions each Thanksgiving is to write down on a card that I have provided each person, the blessings they/we have received during the year and what they/we are thankful for. After the meal, we go around the table (oldest to youngest) and share what we have written down on the card. As I relect on my thanks, I have to say that attending the 40th reunion and rekindling schoolmates from my youth is on the top as far as my blessings this past year.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and thanks for being a part of my blessings this year!

Ruth, what a wonderful tradition. You are so right about the reunion. It certainly was a blessing in my life that I will never forget. You had to be there to understand how many memories were in that room. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
