Jim Hicks

After leaving Greenville in the summer of 1960, I graduated high school in Nashville, TN in 1963; from Auburn University (BSIE) in 1968 and from the University of Hawaii (MBA) in 1971. Served as an officer in the US Coast Guard in Honolulu and began my business career with Alcoa in Philadelphia in 1971. For the next thirty years, my career was split almost equally between line management and consulting. As for the former, my most notable position was EVP with Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation in NYC.

I now reside in New London, CT and am a writer, speaker and environmentalist. Published my first book, "Healthy Eating, Healthy World," (BenBella) in 2011, the "4Leaf Guide to Vibrant Health: in 2015 and "OUTCRY" in 2020. You can find them all on Amazon; books by J. Morris Hicks, my writing name.

While in the 8th grade at E.E. Bass in 1959, my most memorable teachers were Ms. Robbie Cockerham who taught American History and Mr. Lester Acree who taught math. As I fondly recall, Jerry Hafter and I played golf at the Greenville Country Club during the entire week of final exams---as we were both exempt from all of them. Jerry was the much better golfer and student than I was and I was saddened to hear of his passing.
