Mrs. Peterson passed away on December 31, 2008. She was 87 years old & lived in University Place, Washington. She taught English & was also Coach Peterson's wife. There will be a memorial service for her on February 6, 2009 at the Whiting United Methodist Church at Community Court & Clark Street in Whiting, In from noon to 2pm.

Since we're all getting ancient, maybe we should try for a 36th reunion... LOL

Hey all,
I have just found out that Mr. Darrell G. Church passed away on October 15, 2007. He was living in Crossville, TN at the time. I was told that he had been ill. Mr. Church had kept in touch with me & my family. He would call & get together with us when he came to town. He was an important part in many of our lives & I'm sure he will not be forgotten.

Just read the last response. You are right Mollie, Mr. C's life lesson, commitment and caring was an important part of my life and I would guess anyone's who had the privelege to be a member of his music classes. The heavenly chior is singing loud and proud!

First let me say how impressed I am with this site! Very professional, easy to use, and looks really cool. Way to go Mollie. What are you - some kind of a computer geek? HA! Thanks for putting in the time to do this. I really appreciate it. We'll have to get more people to use it.

Secondly, I'm so sorry to hear that Mr Church passed away. Yes, he was a significant part of my high school experience. Now that I think about it, I was in his classes and choirs more than anyone else at Clark. I really learned to appreciate so many different styles of music as well as different personalities. He was a master musician. He will be sorely missed! I like what Joe said about the heavenly choir - I'm sure he'll be directing it by the time we get there! HA!

Thirdly, I agree with Ellen Excell. We should have a get together sooner than 2014. We're sure not getting any younger and it would be fun to catch up with each other. What if we did something really laid back and informal like maybe a pitch in picnic at a park. Maybe around July 4th? I'd come back to Whiting for this. (We live in Noblesville - close to Indianapolis). People could bring their families (kids and grandkids), pets, motorcycles, whatever. Plus it wouldn't be a big burden on anyone to plan something formal. We'd really need to find our classmates, but I bet if we all really made this a priority, we could track down a bunch of them. What do yous guys think?

I'm sorry that I have not connected with you all sooner. I'd enjoy the chance to hear your stories, hopes, and dreams and share a few of mine too!

If any of you want to contact me more directly, you can email me at: gsf50@sbcglobal.net or call me at 317.770.0571. It'd be a "gas" to "rap" with you for awhile.
Greg

Hi Everyone,
Kudos to Mollie on starting this website. It really is nicely done and easy to use.
I agree, a reunion sounds fun. I just read in the Northwest Indiana Times, okay, the Hammond Times, GRC's classes of '67-'70 are having a get together this summer at the new golf course right here in Robertsdale. If those old timers can do a reunion thing, so can we. I'd be willing to help out too.
Who planned the 10th? My family and I were out of town so we couldn't make that one. I'm sure they would have a list of names and some addresses. It would be nice to catch up with people.
I work with a lady who graduated from Clark back in, nevermind. They made an entire weekend of it around the Pierogi Fest in Whiting (end of July). There were tours of Clark, golf outings, blocks of rooms put aside at Ramada...They had fun.
Count me in for a reunion committee.
Tina

Hi All;

Mollie you are the best, what a forum this website.

A Reunion would be great but there are a lot of names not checked/connected here... I will do my part to contact classmates I am still in contact with, then follow-up.

Warmest Regards, -Adrienne

Thanks for the kudos y'all! Hey Greg...I guess I am somewhat of a geek...a little hobby I picked up along the way.
I would be all into a picnic before our 40th. I sent emails out to those I could find, but I'm thinking that the emails were old & never received (that's positive thinking for ya!)
I thank you all for signing up. I hope we get more.
I am still local here...working at the refinery...living in Hammond & caring for my parents who are blind now. So I am here, in the area & ready to party! (At least the mind is willing, tho the body is not as energetic as it used to be)
I work strange hours, but I'm sure I'll be able to arrange some time off for a get together.
Thanks for joining! Keep in touch.

Wow a bunch of names from the past. It's great to see that some of us are trying to keep in touch. I know where a couple of classmates are so if the reunion talk gets serious, I can get in touch with them.

Good Job Mollie!

Hey, Mollie! What a pleasant surprise it was to get this message on my Facebook. It's great to see where people are these days, what they're doing and what's new. I was sorry to see those that have transitioned from this earth. I've lived out of the region for 30+ years and I didn't know how to reconnect. I'm thrilled to add a check beside my name. Great job and thanks!

Hi Mollie,
I just stumbled onto your website for our class reunion.  Very nice, thought I had to drop you a note to let you know.  It was so sad to see the names of those who have passed on.  It's hard to believe it's been almost 40 years, where has the time gone?  Does anyone remember Mr. Miller's Rasputin's the crazy monk Lecture, we were just talking about it the other night.  When you can remember something almost 40 years later that is something, heck I can barely remember what I had for lunch yesterday!!

Hi Mollie!
Wow! I just stumbled across this page. I had no idea it existed, and it looks like it's been up for several years already. I was reading all the messages above, and everyone talking about a 40th reunion, and here we are, 4 years away from what will be our 50th year...yikes! There is currently a site on Facebook, "Clark Alumni-The Final Years". It might be a good way to reach more of our classmates! If people would like to have a reunion, whether it be for our 50th, or for no special reason, I'd be more than happy to help where I can! Let's, each of us, reach out to any of our classmates in which we still have contact, and try to get this page more active! I hope everyone is having a nice summer. Stay safe! Stay healthy!

Dear Fellow Pioneer,

Can you believe that we have reached our 50th anniversary year of graduating from George Rogers Clark High School, way back in 1974!

For all of us high school was our way of life for a solid four years.  In those years we were at the forefront of adventure, discovery and development that eventually defined what the 70’s were all about!  We were the leaders of an era!

We played sports, sang in choirs, participated in clubs, went to dances, attended and maybe contributed in classes, experienced the right of passage into adulthood (commonly referred to as Prom), worked on the Pioneer News or Powder Horn, played an instrument in band or orchestra, cheered on squads or shook pons, acted in dramatic and comedic plays ordanced and sang through a musical, went to football and basketball games, rallied for Homecomings,  attended Winter Formals, received detentions, reported to school freshmen year during the teacher’s strike just to be counted, ditched school, hung out on street corners, drove endlessly around town for no reason at all, got our first jobs and marveled at all the opportunities that were ahead of us in the future.

Adjusting to this time in our life, with an immense array of choices to make was difficult.  We made them, some good some bad, we learned from both, but there is no denying it was an experience we will never forget.

As we grow older, we are consistently reminded of these formidable years, even bombarded by this past with the hundreds of movies and books produced and written about what ismost commonly referred to as “The Best Years of Our Lives”.  As we watch these shows or read these books we are reminded of the years, the fun, the trouble, the hard work, the angst, the friendships, the pranks, the loves, the deep discussions and the never ending party (at least to our class) that our high school years were all about.

It’s time for us to party again!  We need to come together to rekindle the memories of those awesome years and to learn about what has happened to each other since the 10 year reunion and graduation.  We need to Celebrate!

A group of fellow classmates have been working tirelessly on providing all of us with an opportunity to come together, not with just a reunion, but with a reunion weekend jam packed with various activities …so that we can reminisce, visit with old friends, discover what significant events unfolded in one another’s lives, and even what the future might hold.

Information about each event is on the following page.  We encourage each of you to attend as many of them as you can.  A survey is also included that we hope you will complete.  Please carefully read all instructions, payment options, and mailing instructions.  We really hope you can attend and celebrate with us.  Looking forward to seeing each of you!
