Comments:

The years after high school were busy. I was a new mom, went to college part-time, worked at a variety of jobs (waitress, receptionist, tutor). I became involved in Girl Scouts, volunteering at St. John, and sports. Paul and I coached basketball and track for years, both at GRC middle school and St. John. I went to school when the kids were older. After receiving my Bachelor's from Purdue-Cal, I became a teacher at Lincoln E.S. in Hammond. I'm was very active at Lincoln in extra-curriculars, but recently gave most of it up (willingly) when our first granddaughter was born. Now, I travel a lot because our daughter and her family live in Ohio. Our son lives in Colorado. I'm still teaching, have my Masters, but can't wait to retire (10 more years!!!). I love to travel, garden, read, and spend time with family and friends.
Update: Retired from School City of Hammond (2018). Moved to Powell, OH to be near our granddaughters. Currently traveling and just enjoying life.

School Story:

I remember Mrs. Espinoza from Spanish class. Spanish club used to make tacos in the janitor's room during one of the many fundraising fairs. I remember over-cooking them and filling the room with smoke. Needless to say, we were moved to the lunch room after that.
Performing at games, marching in parades with flag corp/poms bring back fond memories.
Musicals like George M were lots of fun, from sets to costumes, to performances. Mr. Church was a great teacher and choral director.
Remember Mr. Watkins? I used to sit in his class every lunch hour for months on end because I just didn't get Advanced Algebra. I saw him about 10 years after high school and he still remembered me! Probably my thick head.
Remember Wanda Wilharm? Biology, freshman year. My name is Wanda Wilharm and I will HARM!! She made us listen to bird calls during biology and identify them. Funny, living out in "the country" now, I can recognize most of the birds by their call.
