Bruce Edward Baker

After MHS, I received my undergraduate degree in philosophy- a really useful major- and then went to seminary north of Chicago. The first church I served was in Denver, CO, and then in Des Moines. In 1981, I accepted a call to be the Sr. Pastor of a small church in northeast Iowa, Cedar Falls, the home of the University of Northern Iowa.
We love the community and the church. It has been a great place to raise our kids. The church has grown considerably during these almost 30 years. We have about 1700 in our 7 Sunday morning worship services in 3 locations, an incredible staff of about 35 full and part time people.
I met my wife, Sally, during college, and she got her masters in teaching during my first year of seminary, and then taught high school English while I finished school. She is an amazing woman- so talented, caring, and supportive. I hope you get to meet her.
Our daughter, Amy, lives just outside Cedar Falls. She lost her home and just about everything else in the serious flooding we had here in 2008. She was diagnosed with Lupus a year ago and suffers a lot from those symptoms.
Our son, Dan, is almost finished with his PhD in metallurgical engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He and his wife Stacy, his high school sweetheart, have our only grandchild, Rebekah, who is 4 ½.
