Jen (Tatum) Richardson asked me to “beef up” my profile, so here goes. Let’s see. I didn’t attend the 10 year reunion, so I guess I better start from the beginning. I graduated college with a bachelor’s in secondary education. I majored in French and minored in English. I worked at River Forest High School in Hobart, Indiana for 11 years. I taught French, English, Newspaper, and Yearbook. I think I majored in French because Mr. Bolinger was my favorite teacher in high school. He had the funniest stories! I was never too keen on teaching newspaper or yearbook. It was something I was “asked to” teach rather than chose to teach. And by “asked to” I mean forced. It was also something that was never going to be removed from my schedule, so I decided to try and change that by going back to school. I got my master’s degree in instructional design in 1999. Well, that proved to be a pretty useless degree, so I stayed in the classroom for another five years. During that time I went back to school again to get my degree in library sciences. I have been working at Lowell High School for four years now as the media director for Tri-Creek School Corporation. I am the “media specialist” (we aren’t called librarians anymore, but that’s what I am) at the high school and I oversee the ladies at our three elementary schools and one middle school. Finally, I love my job! It probably sounds really boring to you, but I assure you it’s not. It’s the best job I’ve ever had.
I do not have any kids. I have a Cocker Spaniel puppy that will be six months old this month. Her name is Emma. I met my husband about six months after college. Lizette Solis was dating a friend of his at the time and she introduced us. So, I have her to thank or blame, depending on the day. We have been married for 10 years. He graduated from Lake Central in 1988. He played basketball and soccer. He has a tendency to know people everywhere we go, so if we attend the reunion he’ll somehow probably know more people than I will!
