She was my best friend in sixth through eighth grade and in high school. We played sports together, laughed together, cried together, wondered about the world together--how we would end up and what it would be like when we were all grown up and married. We both wanted to graduate in three years, so we are in your class of 74. To get the credits, we had to attend University High at the ETSU campus in the summer of 1973. We both took junior and senior English at the same time to get the credits and to avoid Ms. Orr's English class. I wasn't old enough to drive; so I paid Frances gas money, and she drove a Chevrolet Impala, I think, for us to get to school. We went to school every day during the summer. Frances' mother told her that she could not get married until after high school. She loved her beau, Gene, and wanted to marry him. So she graduated a year early to make her dream come true. Frances was a lady, she was graceful, shy and classy. She loved life, and I still remember her laugh. She was a person of integrity and an honest person. I never knew of her to tell a lie or commit any act that would hurt another human being or animal. She was a good friend with whom I was fortunate to have spent many hours talking over heart throbs, teen age insecurities, new discoveries about the world during the impressionable fragile time of growing up. Even though we pursued diffferent paths after high school, I know the world lost a lovely person when Frances left us; but I am richer for having known her as my friend for the short time she was in my life.
Beth,I remember when you and Frances were friends. She was such a nice girl in school.I can tell you that it was a shock to find out that she had passed.I didn't know about it until I got on this website the other day.I remember when I lived on Rittertown road,Frances lived a couple of doors down from me.I liked her a lot, because she was always nice to me.I never knew of her being anything but super nice. The Lord got a good one when her called her home.

What a wonderful post. Thank you. I hope that our classmates post precious memories for all our classmates that have passed.
