After graduation I spent the next major part of my life in Richmond, VA attending Virginia Commonwealth University. This in itself was really a Bethel reunion considering how many of us were there ( Jasmayne, Charmaine, Donya, Rose, Erin, Shawnee..etc etc etc) . I majored in Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Public Relations. There comes a point when you realize that sometimes what you really want a city may not be able to offer you. So after an internship (PEOPLE Magazine), producing countless Fashion shows ( GroupMODA, STRUT, City of Richmond PRIDE) and even more random jobs..lol. I packed up my life and with a close friend and tons of support from friends and family drove to Los Angeles ( Lala Land, Floss Angeles..etc etc).
So far I have been fortunate enough to land two amazing jobs. I am a stylist/associate at an Fashion PR firm which has granted me the opportunity to contribute to a variety of media publications and be a regular at Los Angeles Mercedes-Benz Fashion week working for such clients as Lauren Conrad( The Hills), Kelly Nishimoto, Lana Fuchs, VOOM and others . I also work for a San Francisco based company called Crossroads Trading Co. It's a green company that specializes and pretty much founded the whole recycled fashion/ buy-sell- trade-concept. It's very non-stressful and allows me to have some variety in my work week, plus I am based in BEAUTIFUL West Hollywood ( and I am not talking about the scenery!)
You can always tell people who are not from the west coast out here. Theres a certain genuiness, confidence and calmness that somehow people can pick up on when your from the east and for that I am grateful to be from the east and nutured in Virginia. I honestly can't believe that it's about to be ten years already! High School may not have been the greatest for everyone but as with any situation you make the most of it, learn from it and move on. I think we are going to have an amazing reunion and if that's not your intention...stay home.
