Elvin Eugene Adkins

GLOUCESTER - Elvin E. Adkins, 68, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017. He was born in Hampton, Va. and was the son of the late Dot Lester Adkins and James E. Adkins, Jr. He retired from Philip Morris in Yorktown in 2002 after 19 years as an electrical technician. he was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. He was also preceded in death by his brother William James Adkins and is survived by his wife of 48 years Drusella "Dru" Adkins, sister-in-law Nancy Steelman, brother-in-law Dr. Martin F. Smith, a nephew and cousins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with a graveside service in the mausoleum at Parklawn Memorial Park on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester, is in charge of arrangements. -

Donald Earl Schappell (1966)

So sad to hear of Butch's passing. We were good friends throughout our school days from Langley View Elementary to Kecoughtan. Many great guys & gals lived in the same area ( Ted Soter, Linda Chappell, Rudy Paucker ) just to name a few.

I always enjoyed going places with Butch in that fast Chevy Nova, he had a great personality and sense of humor. Smart guy, RIP Butch.
