Donald Henry Green - Class Of 1966

Donald Henry Green

HAMPTON - Donald H. Green, born in Danville, Virginia, February 15, 1948, passed away at home on Saturday, October 15, 2017 in the company of his loving family. Following his 1966 graduation from Kecoughtan High School he worked a short period at Newport News Shipyard before entering the US Army. Donald served his country with pride in the 48th Transportation unit, Seventh Army in Goeppingen Germany. Following the military, Donald worked for Division of Motor Vehicles before joining the Hampton Fire Department for 5 years. Donald retired from Anheuser-Busch in 2010 following 32 years of service. Donald's success in his work life was driven by his passion to be a good provider for his family. Donald was survived by his soul mate and wife of 43 years, Carolyn Bailey Green. Once while in the hospital, Carolyn asked Donald, "what are you staring at", as Donald continued to stare he said, "the most beautiful women in the world". Donald & Carolyn's family consisted of 3 children, Lisa Green Bennett of Lake Alfred, FL, Donald Henry Green II and spouse Diana, Adam Green of Hampton, Virginia; grandchildren, Matthew, Brianna, Cameron, Jaiden and Aston of Hampton; siblings, Charles Green of Richmond, Carol Gilliam of Suffolk and Deloris Smith of Troutman, NC. Our hearts will adjust to missing him, but our love will never diminish because more than being a father, he was a Dad, more than being a spouse, he was Carolyn's soul mate, gone to pave the way for his family. A celebration of Donald's life will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.

Thank you Tommy Saunders for sending this to me.

I remember Donald and his brother Charlie well.  So sorry to learn of Donald's passing.  He could always make a person laugh.  Rest in peace, friend.
