March 2013: This recap came from a telephone conversation with Vic Taylor who taught English at Kecoughtan and Earl Bell.
"He is 84 and lives in Carrolton, Virginia. He always had a book in his hand and in the faculty lounge smoked his little elegant cigs. I was teasing him about his wicked sense of humor. We were good friends and loved to discuss our favorite books with each other. Our last previous conversation was probably in June, 1967.
Amazingly, he does not do email or computers. He is one the smartest men I have ever known. He recognized my voice immediately and we had a wonderful conversation. It was such a delight."
