JAMES MOORE KEIGHTLEY JR.
December 20, 1946 ~ August 30, 1994
James Moore Keightley, Jr., M. D., 47, husband of Jessica Gariepy Keightley, of 1761 Eastwood Drive, Lexington, died Tuesday August 30, 1994 at his residence.
He joined St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, in 1974 and was a full-time staff member and in charge of the emergency room since 1978.
Born December 20, 1946 in Louisville, he was the son of Mrs. Frances Board Keightley of Harrodsburg and Dr. James Moore Keightley, Sr., of Lexington.
He was a 1964 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a 1968 graduate of Vanderbilt University, graduated from Vanderbilt Medical School in 1972 and did his internship at the City of Memphis General Hospital. He waa a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, the Fayette County and Kentucky Medical Societies and was a Diplomat of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
He is survived by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Elaine Frances Keightley and a sister, Julienne Gist Keightley, Louisville.
Funeral services for Dr. Keightley were held at the W. R. Milward Mortuary - Broadway in Lexington. The Rev. Ed Mesta officiated.
Burial was held in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers were Christopher Trower, William Cull, Bill VanArsdall, Dr. Kenneth Phelps, Dr. Barry Parsley, Dr. Ben Kibler, David Pratt and Barry Keightley.

Jim was such a talented guy. He was so generous with his time and talent. He never failed to include all of us in so many things. Parties at this house were always classy and great fun. We all expected that Jim would fulfill all of the goals that he set. It is sad that he died so young. He was truly a kind and gentle person. Jim was the consumate gentleman. God bless him.David T. I had not seen Jim for many years until one night while working for IBM they thought I was having another heart attack. After being rushed over to the ER at St. Joseph hospital, to my amazement the attending physician in the ER was my old schoolmate Jim Keightly! He rapidly determined that I was in no danger of dying and we spent the next few minutes getting caught up on our lives and reflecting on our high school experiences. We both agreed that those were the happiest days of our lives. We just didn't know it at the time.
