The following was sent via email on May 19th.

Hello All,

The Reunion is just about here. We are expecting nice weather and a large crowd so here are a few updates to enhance your experience and make this a great event for all who are attending:

 1) Parking will be at a premium. If possible, please carpool with a friend. You may find parking in the NWC lots, convent lot and one side of Wampanoag Dr.  There is additional parking on Sheephill Dr. and Eisenhower Park (parallel street behind Northwest ).

2) If you are attending Mass, please be on time (Mass starts at 4:00pm.) in the auditorium. We will be remembering deceased classmates, as well as deceased staff, at the Mass. We want to create a respectful atmosphere for the six priests and all who are in worship. If you are not attending Mass, please try to keep the area near the auditorium quiet.

3) Other than the Mass, there is no formal program scheduled. Please remember that we are doing this with no budget through the wonderful support of Northwest Catholic High and those listed in the Mass Program. The attraction of this no frills event is to provide an opportunity for people to reconnect after so many years. Wine, beer and light hors d'oeuvres, will be available after Mass.

4) When you enter the school, please stop at a registration table to check-in and pick up a name tag. Please fill out your name and year of graduation (if applicable).

5) Continue to spread the word about the website. It is our hope to maintain the site for years to come.

6) We are excited about providing you this opportunity to renew past friendships, talk about old times, share what's happening in your life and create memories that will last forever! WE HOPE THAT YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL EVENING!!!

Sincerely,

The South Catholic High Reunion Committee

I misplaced my 1981 Class Year Book, years ago and have always wanted to see about locating another.  Any one know if there are any to be had, or if there is a publisher to be contacted to purchase another?

The reunion was really nice. Reconnecting with classmates was so great. I am looking forward to the 50th anniversary event. I hope to see alot more classmates and faculty then. This website is such a great idea.

Breeda Lagan (Royer) (1980)

Want to thank everyone on the committee for this wonderful Reunion event.  Special thanks to Fran Laffin with the inspiration to see this dream come true.

A lot of work went into this event -- and it was ALL worth it !!! Kudos to the volunteers and donors for our Reunion event.

NWCHS provided a well organized reception area.  Enjoyed the mass (inspiring homily by Fr Frascadore).  Great to have so many priests present to concelebrate (Fr Traxl, Fr Kriss,Fr O"Keefe et al).  Great music for the liturgy and speakers whom we all could remember and admire from our HS years.

Wonderful to see so many faculty and staff members -- who made such a difference in our lives during high school and beyond.

And finally it was great to re-connect (in-person) with classmates of 1980, as, well as 1978 & 1979.  Many of you I had not seen or communicated with in 30 years - yet still realize you each are special in your own way - as you were then  - 30 years ago.
For those of you that I have been in touch with (virutally on FB) - it was great to take a few minutes to really communicate in person and catch up with each other.  Only wish I had more time to talk to you - or -find you in the gym again before I had to leave for the evening.
My own time at the reunion was shorter than I would have wanted due to family commitments and travel plans (had to leave around 6:15 pm).  I hope I did not miss meeting up with others from Class of 80, and 78 & 79.  I wish I had more time to talk and socialize with many of you that I only had time to chat a few minutes.  We all seemed to want to get to meet and talk with so many, but may not have had enough time.  I am on FB, as well, so hope to connect again with many of you that it seemed our time was too short.

I hope that this might become an annual event -- bigger each year.  Bigger than what we had -may seem too overwhelming - but perhaps not.  My only suggestion would be try to group tables in a reception area with 'table markers' for class of 67-72, 73-77, 78-83, 84-89 and 90-93.  Labeled table groupings might help lessen the 'search for name tags with 1980, 1979 or 1978' listed on them.
Yet, amongst the search for '80, '79 & '78 tags, I had an opp to meet classmates from my sister's class of '73 and although my sister Maura Lagan could not attend - I am able to bring her greetings from her classmates.  Thank you from those of the class of '73.

Thank you ... and hope to see everyone again ... this could become a great tradition for SCHS alumni, faculty and staff.

Gina Carucci (1981)

A BIG thank you to the entire SCHS reunion committee!  This was a huge undertaking and I know all of us in attendance are truly grateful to the committee's time and efforts!!!  As stated by others, the mass was truly beautiful, done the "South Catholic way" -  it captured the essense of the SCHS community that was felt by everyone and recreated the "feeling" that we all have had when we "go back in time" to our days at SCHS.  The community of SCHS was and still is unique, something that very few have ever been fortunate enough to experience.  I know I have traveled the U.S. and have had the acquaintence of many, and no one has ever described his/her high school experience as that which we were fortunate enough to have lived!  Thank you all for that experience, I am so happy to see that the community and spirit of SCHS lives on in all of us!

Looking forward to the next All Class/All Year Reunion!

Many thanks and Many Blessings to the SCHS community!

Sincerely,

Gina Carucci, '81

Thanks so much for all the great work.  Some of us went on to the Sidewalk Cafe (AKA Oxbow) for hours of dancing and catching up.  Thanks to all who did the hard work to make that night happen.

I hope everyone had a great time at the reunion.  I have been doing considerable business travel lately and I wasn't feeling to hot so I decided to stay home.  Probably a good decision because it's Monday and I am sick as a dog!  Hope to catch up at a future reunion.

Thanks to all the organizers!! The hard work to make it happen was greatly appreciated. What a beautiful event.  Nice to see so many of my fellow '76 ers there as well as friends from other years.

WOW, is all I can say--this reunion far exceeded my expectations! All the hard work of the planning committee showed! The event was wonderful, I loved seeing all my class of 1974 classmates and having time to catch up. What a wonderful, warm feeling I had all night.

My only hope is that we find even more of us by the time we have the next reunion!

The mass was very special and Fr Frascadore "still has it"--charm, wit, energy, and true Christian spirit! How blessed we were to have him there.

Thanks again for all your hard work Fran Laffin and planners !!!

I was really amazed at the turnout for the reunion.  It showed that the spirit of South lives on!  Fr. Frascadore looks wonderful and did a great job at the Mass.  He made us remember some funny moments and made us feel like we were "all 18 again!"

Thank you to ALL that helped put this together, it was truly an amazing tribute to South Catholic Alumni!!

Catherine Ploszaj (Cancellieri) (1968)

congratulations to the reunion committee for a job well done! There was a tremendous spirit of friendship and family shown on Sat. May 22. Mass was exceptional  as Father Frascadore  does what he does best-he speaks from the heart and the hearts of all us classmates about the importance  of our South  days.I was not able to stay long at the social, but for the few people that I met from  the "68 time span it was a joy to meet and chat with them. The lovely teachers-sisters- you"re amazing! Thanks for being there! And the 2 or 3 classmates also it was super to see you!  I really hope that this type of reunion can continue, and that many more classmates and alumnae can attend! Thanks to the Northwest Catholic community for being so accommodating! The event had a whole lot of class-South Catholic Class!

Ao sorry I missed the reunion.  Looks like a great time was had by all.  Hope to make it next year though.  I see Sr. Joan O'Connor was there?  I would love to get in touch with her.  Does anyone know if she's "up with the times" and has email?  We spent so much time together (hahahaha).

The First Ever All Class Reunion

on May 22, 2010 was a great success!

- On Behalf of the SCHS Reunion Committee, I would like to thank again all those who came to the Reunion as well as the many people who supported this Event in a variety of ways. I think that most in attendance would agree that the energy, goodwill and spirit displayed was truly phenomenal!  At least 700 people shared countless memories, renewed old friendships and forged new connections. This experience will not be soon forgotten as we have come to appreciate the people, experiences, virtues and spirit of South that has been deeply woven into the fabric of our lives! Bottom line: It was people like you who made South so special for thirty years and it is quite evident that this star continues to shine brightly!

- Next Event for anyone interested in the South community:

5th Annual  Joseph F. Reilly Memorial Golf Tournament

Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Goodwin Park Golf Course

Besides paying bills, all collected money will go toward a fund used to maintain the SCHS website (to post pictures, communications and activities) and spearhead future SCHS events.    Make check payable to SCHS class Reunion Fund.

Send checks to David Kozak, 31 Hunter Ridge, Rocky Hill, CT 06067

- We appreciate your overwhelming support of our efforts to produce this Reunion. We welcome additional feedback re: May 22nd and future activities. SouthCatholicReunion@gmail.com

- We are also exploring the possibility of posting a 25 question contest on South Catholic High School. Prizes will be awarded. Stay tuned.

- We have started a Photo Gallery for pictures taken at the Reunion. Please share your photos! (Click on “Reunion Photos” on the left side of the home page.)

John Giovannuccl (1974)

Thanks  to every one on the Reunion Committee for a wonderfule trip down Memory Lane. Father Frascadore was exceptional as always. I have had the privilege of belonging to the parish in Southington where he was pastor just prior to his retirement 2 years ago, so I've seen/heard him more recently than most of you.

It was also an honor to be asked to participate in the music for the Liturgy. It really made the day for me and I know my fellow musicians/singers feel the same. I know someone was taking pictures of us as we sang and played. If they are out there, please post them if you can. My family wants to see them.

Thank you again for the reunion and please contact me to help out for the next one.

....had a wonderful time at the reunion !! It was great to see so many friends and share so many wonderful memories. The " Allen " family was well represented (nine of us !) and we partied before and after ! So great to see Sr. Brian, Sr. Christopher and Sr, Maris Stella ( my heroes ! ) Looking forward to the next reunion and definitely agree that areas marked with class years would be helpful with so many name tags to read ( not that we look any different of course ). Great job !!!

Great idea to have another South reunion next year.  Many of us missed this year's due to short notice and previous obligations.
