30TH REUNION
Friday, August 2, 2013 - Sunday, August 4, 2013
August 7, 2013
Hey Everybody, I apologize for the late wrap-up, but I am still recovering from that incredible weekend we had! I don't think I'll be back to normal for at least another week, but the hard work was soooooooo worth it!
Well, I promised y'all we were stepping it up for this reunion and that's exactly what we did! So if you missed out this time, please accept my heartfelt condolences.
Friday night's meet & greet brought the usual screams, hugs and chest bumps that normally ensue when classmates haven't seen each other for years. Reminiscing over drinks and good food and picture taking lasted throughout the evening.
For starters on Saturday evening, our deceased classmates made their presence known immediately after the memorial ceremony. A brief rain shower, even as the sun was still shining, followed by a big, beautiful rainbow convinced us that they were indeed there celebrating with us. After dinner, fellow Weaver Beaver , Mr. Kenny Blue hosted our comedy hour. Marlen Baker warmed up the crowd with his unique brand of comedy and Comedienne Nikki Carr (straight out of Brooklyn) brought the house down! People were literally crying at the end of her set. If they hadn't been dressed to the nines, I'm sure they would have been ROTFLTAO! Then the party was on. Did anybody see Preston Lewis and Treda cutting up on the dance floor? WHAT???!!!!
Sunday was indeed a trip down memory lane. Classmates brought their children and grandchildren and we had a good old fashioned family outing. Mr. Martin Jones manned the grill as Nutta Butta got the music started. We played spades and Taboo inside and jumped double-dutch outside! Bubbles, hoola hoops, kites, paddle balls and waterguns completed the assortment of toys for both grownups and kids alike. We hung out for hours after the scheduled time to leave.
Marcella Milner was ever present with her "brand new camera" snapping everything and everybody under the sun. She even took pictures of folks we don't event know! I'd also like to take this time to send a shout out to Darryl & Jerlyn Thames aka The Reunion Crashers. They showed up Saturday AND Sunday y'all! Ain't no shame to their game...LOL
In case you haven't noticed, some pictures from the reunion have been posted (go to Photo Gallery and click 30 Yr Reunion Pics). The professional pictures taken Saturday night will be delivered in 2 weeks. I will let you all know when they have been posted.
Please stay tuned for information regarding the class of 83's 50th birthday celebration in 2015.
Well that's it for now.
TTYL,
Continued Blessings!
