FAQ: /First Visit

 If you are new to this site please read this entire FAQ page. It will answer all of your questions on how to get a password, make a profile as well as answer any concerns you may have concerning privacy.

Add your profile information now! 

Here's how in 4 easy steps:
1. Read all the info below - if you are not into reading instructions
then go to step 2
2. Click "Classmate Profiles" above left

3. Find your name and click on it.

4. Complete the information you want to appear in your profile and SAVE it. 

IT'S THAT SIMPLE!

Once your profile is created, you will need to be verified by the site administrator. This could take a few minutes, a few hours, or a day depending on administrator availability.

You will be notified by email once you are verified. Then you can start exploring the site, join the Message Forum, contact other classmates.., just start having fun! Plus, your profile information is ONLY available to fellow classmates who log in.

 Please register even if you do not plan to attend the 40th reunion.

 

You will need to make your individual profile in order to access the password protected pages on this site. To make your own page that you can personalize with information such as what you have been up to the last 40 years, school memories, photos or to just browse other password protected pages please click on the Classmate Profiles link. Once you are there find your name and then click on it. Follow the prompts to create your profile.  If you cannot find your name please contact us so we may add your name.

You login with the e-mail address you provided during your member account set up. If you have several e-mail addresses and cannot remember which one you used or if you no longer have access to that e-mail address, click on "Contact Us" and provide your new e-mail address.

I will make the change and then e-mail you a temporary password. Once you've logged in using your new e-mail address and temporary password, change your password by clicking the "Change Your Password" link under the Member Functions menu on the home page. This way only you know your password.

If you remember your e-mail address but you forgot your password, click on the "Forgot password?" link right above the green "Log On" button, and the website will automatically e-mail your password to you within a few minutes.

This website is maintained and hosted by a classmate and is completely free to all members. You will never be asked to pay to make a profile or to be able to access other profiles.

  • You can have a profile with pictures and videos

  • Send and receive email

  • Look at message forums, other classmates profiles and other cool stuff

  • Post announcements on the home page (after submitted the announcement is subject to approval by the administrator - to verify that the announcement is within the intent of this site.

You can choose whether your "Classmate Profile" is publicly viewable on the website (e.g., by other classes, friends, and the general public) or restricted to registered Classmates only. Right now all profiles are restricted. If restricted, search engines and the general public will be blocked from accessing your Classmate Profile page. You can also choose whether or not your mailing address and phone number are displayed. (I really don't suggest you do that. Email the person you want to give it to. I won't give out addresses or phone numbers even to classmates, unless they are on the reunion committee.) Otherwise, only the City and State where you live will be listed. Click on the "Edit Your Profile" link under the Member Functions menu in the side column, then scroll down to the bottom of the page to make your choice.



FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the public or other Classmates have access to my e-mail address?

  •  No. To protect your privacy, your work or home e-mail address is stored only within the website, so Classmates can send you a Message. You can decide whom you want to provide your own e-mail address to. To check if you've received any new messages, click on the "Message Area" under the Member Functions menu in the side column.

  • Please add our email address to your address book and adjust your spam settings so that you can receive emails keeping you up to date with the website and upcoming reunion.

How will I receive e-mails from the website?

  •  E-mails to the entire class will be sent to you from: postmaster@classcreator.net so please add this e-mail address to your Address Book or your spam filter's Approved List. You can send e-mails to our website administrator, Pat Schmitt Marciniak, by clicking on the "Contact Us" tab at the top of the page. I will reply as soon as possible.

What are examples of the e-mails that I may be sent?

  • You will be e-mailed information about new website features; details about the upcoming class reunion, fundraisers, or events; general announcements about classmates; and other important news. In addition, a reminder e-mail will be sent to you on New Year's Day suggesting that the start of the new year is a good time to update your "Classmate Profile".

Can I post my own photos or videos on the website?

  • Yes! You can upload a current photo of yourself, your family, pets, vacations, old photos from days gone by, past reunions, etc. -- anything you want to share -- by clicking on "Edit/Upload Photos" under the Member Functions menu on the left.

  • There is no limit on the number of digital photos that you can store on your "Classmate Profile" page.

  • Each photo is automatically resized to fit on your Profile page.

  • You can also upload your own videos that you've posted to YouTube.com by clicking on the "Classmate Profiles" link, then following the instructions.

  • And yes, you can add, delete, or replace your own photos or videos at any time.

 Your login is your email. If you lose your password, there are directions to e-mail it to you under the "FAQ/First Visit" page. Since there are a few changes in the program, you may want to read it anyway.
Unlike My Space or Face book, this site is not open to the general public.  You specifically have to change your profile to allow the general public to see it.  I strongly suggest you don't enable that option. As is, search engines, unregistered users, or spam senders cannot get to any of your information.
 If you are registered, this is your site. I am just your geek.  You can email the whole class, share news with one or all, as you choose. (See the FAQ page) It is great how many of you have said you've been e-mailing to others in the class. No, there is no way of knowing who emails and who doesn't. Jeeze.
Information is encrypted. Your e-mail addresses will never be given out or sold. Should anyone EVER get a spam that they think is connected to this site notify me immediately. (However, the e-mails from CompuCoyle are from me.) I have never had anyone spammed from this site. The hosts here are very good at that. This site is not associated with Classmates.com in any way. If you are getting spam from them, go to their site and complain.
Some links are open to the public, such as the Sponsor page and Hotel Info. All the pages that contain your info are only accessed by registered members.  The personal information about you is what you put on the site yourself. And as I said, only registered classmates can see it.
Classmates are found by old reunion info, friends in contact with you, or public information sources. Such as a phone book. Or Google.  If you feel this is an invasion of your privacy, take it up with them.
No information on this site is ever bought or sold. The most you can get is a spot on the Sponsor page for a donation. Even then you don't get access to any classmate info. The Sponsor page is for classmates who have enjoyed the services of the Sponsor and want to use them again. 
If you don't want any communication or don't want to be considered a part of the class, click the "Contact Us" button on the left and let us know. I will remove you from the classmate list and you will never be bothered again. Not a big deal.
This site was designed to reconnect to old friends, share our lives now, and to have fun. It lets everyone know that people still care, even if they haven't seen you in forty years.
On that note, if you send me something that says  "Please let everyone know......." I'll either post it to the message board, or do a class e-mail, or help you send it out yourself.  That is the ONLY way it goes out to everyone. With your permission and at your request.
I'm proud of the way the people on this site have stepped up and given needed comfort in the face of tragedy, or illness, or laughed ourselves silly at new discoveries about each other.
