I did noJeff that well in HS. Just enough to say Hi, but he was still part of my important time of life.
Sadly I have found that Ted passed away in 2012. I talked to his sister Margie in 2008 but had not seen Ted since we graduated, He was still living in the family house on Byron off of Kelly hill.
Me and Ted were pretty good friends my Freshman year. He did not live too far from me and had a weird sense of humor that I found funny. Because of his physical imparement he was shy around many and may not have been as socially adept as he would have liked.
With the time devoted to my sports and my working evening during HS we did not hang out much after that year. I feel bad about that today, I hope that was the real reason for myself.
His sister Margie was a freshman our Senior year and I felt like her big brother in many ways and very protective of her. I have since lost contact with her and cannot refind her.
This is to his memory and I am glad to have been his friend.
I had talked to Dave in early 2010 about attending that years reunion and he mentioned some health issues, but I cannot remember much about what he said. I knew him a bit but did not hang around with him. I just remember him being very quiet, not shy, but not very outgoing. I guess many of us did not know him that well but he still makes up part of the fabric of our time in HS. I am not sure why I did not write something up earlier. I probably put it off to later and I am sorry it has taken so long to bid him goodbye.
It has been many years since I saw Johnny. It was a few years after HS and we chatted at the old Russell's Market at the bottom of Bst. I believe he said he was a fireman and doing well. The one thing about not seeing him for so many years, is that my vision of him is as the tall strong man he was. A man with his whole life ahead of him. We were all that way back then.
I can picture him in HS as if it was yesterday. Walking most of the time with Erna . I was in track and football with him, and can honestly say that I never saw any anger in him or bad temper. I believe it was his house that we had a party in his basement with the walls painted black. many Black pride posters on the wall with black lights as the only lumminations. Pretty coooooool.
As the number on our age gets larger, I think we all get much more nostalgic and emotional about people we have know and shared life with. He is in my thoughts today, and once again a vision of him running on the field is played.
