If retired what did you do?

Deputy Secretary of State, Vice President for Development at Rocky Mountain College, Deputy State Auditor, other management jobs in state government (all in management since I have no actual skills), musician/singer/comedian with the Montana Logging and Ballet Company, Director of St. Peter's Hospital medical lab, management consultant, Building Coordinator for construction of our local church building, grant writer, college admissions counselor, technical assistance specialist for job retraining programs for Montana State AFL-CIO, various jobs including polling for U.S. Senate campaigns, and other jobs I'm forgetting right now because I'm really old.
These are my excuses for not having a real career.

Comments:

I had been searching around for a career until I realized I am made for retirement. It is probably good I didn't know this 30 or 40 years earlier. I am married to the love of my life who has made my life a great joy.

School Story:

I spent part of my high school time wishing I could be a great athlete like Earl or Lloyd. I was too shy and too straight to get into enough trouble to have any great or even any mildly interesting stories. Perhaps I'll make some up, since all of you may not have clear recollections either.
For instance, there was the time when all the cheerleaders took me aside after school and said, "Rusty, we want you to do something special for us... Oh close your mouth and stop drooling. We want you to tell us Earl's phone number."
What? You don't remember that? It was the high point of my high school experience.

We love you, Connie. You made us laugh and you made us marvel at your talent. I was honored to be in a music group with you. We will miss you. Rest in God's hands. No, you probably never rest. Sing and laugh and love in God's hands. Rusty Harper
