LAURA BOLLENBACHER HUBBARD

I attended Beloit College 1959-1961, married Jim Perry (HPHS:1958) in 1962 and moved to CA to complete my BA at CSU Fresno. We moved to Bakersfield where I taught elementary school for 20 years. After I got my MA from CSU Bakersfield, I became an elementary principal for the next 12 years and moved to the Bay Area in 1994. I am divorced from Jim but we're still friends and share a wonderful daughter and grandchildren. I ended my career at the San Mateo County Office of Ed. and retired in 2003. I coach first and second year principals.

The first day I attended HPHS, the school was so new that the bathroom labels weren't yet on the doors. I took a chance and went into one only to discover these weird looking "toilets". (I'd never seen a urinal.) When I walked out the door another equally bewildered freshman boy saw me come out, so he knew exactly where to go...and he went in the other bathroom door!
