Anything Else:
After high school I attended Colgate University & figured I'd combine my love of science and the outdoors, so I majored in Geology & graduated in 1976. But i hated geological field work. So I came back to HP & worked for our family-owned design/manufacturing firm in Chicago for 5 years. Did lots of contract negotiations & figured a legal background would help. I attended night law school @ DePaul & got my law degree in 1983 & took off to practice law. I started in litigation defense for the insurance industry, HATED IT. So switched firms & did corporate & real estate law. After 5-1/2 years, I realized I wasn't very good at lawyering, but I liked the commercial real estate deals I worked on, the people in that industry, etc. So I went into commercial real estate brokerage, primarily in industrial real estate. I started at CB Richard Ellis (11 years), then Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler/Colliers International (12 years, with David Kahnweiler, another HPHS grad), then Merit Partners LLC, a real estate brokerage/redevelopment/consultancy originally in Chicago (2014) & then in Northbrook (9 years). In 2023 I started my own firm, PowerPlay Real Estate Partners. We specialize in the exclusive representation of industrial & office buyers & tenants. It's been GREAT being out on my own!
I still officiate ice hockey, enjoy skiing, golf, biking, weight training, swimming, travel, reading & being with family (both my boys are married to fantastic women!) & friends.
Moved back to Highland Park from Deerfield in 11/2021, onto the street I grew up on, 8 houses away!
