Vaun Paul Page

1953-2024

Salt Lake City , Ut- After a long and courageous battle with numerous diseases, Paul Page passed away on January 25, 2024, at age 70. As a paraplegic, for over 35 years, he worked and played hard, getting through the day on a leg brace, a pair crutches and sheer willpower and optimism. While enduring constant pain and discomfort, always smiling and laughing, his biggest concern was the wellbeing of the people he knew and loved. His fortitude and undaunted appreciation of life was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. For years, he successfully owned and operated Page Amusement and Vending with his brother, Frank Page. After selling the company in the mid-80s, he was in a car accident that left him paralyzed. While still in the hospital, he bought the Green Parrot Café which he turned into one of the classiest clubs ever to grace the streets of Salt Lake City. Known for its pot roast and wonderful décor and bar, it was the in-place to go, particularly after sports events. Local celebrities and notables such as Billy Joel, ZZ Top, and numerous movie and TV stars often dined there.

His other great adventure was owning and operating Fry Canyon, a store, motel, bar, and restaurant on the Bicentennial Highway in southern Utah. Yep, "I owned my own town," he would say, and oh, the stories he could tell. Visits by Robert Redford in his Porche, Edward Abby, and a host of characters from the Monkey Wrench Gang were common. And that's not to mention the wild rock concerts he put on and the times he went for days without seeing a soul, just him, his dog Ben and his old jeep to get around in. More recently, he sold real estate for Time Real Estate where he won an award for Salesman of the Year. In all he accomplished, his indomitable spirit, optimism, and courage was an inspiration to all. "What's Crackin,' was his bi-line and his joyful laugh filling any room is remembered by all. So. From Paul to all of you, "Good on ya."

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Louis Page and survived by his brother Frank Page, sister Karen Brown, nephews Joe Page, Peter Brown, and Palmer Brown, and Debbie Carter, his devoted soul mate. A celebration of his life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, February 24th, at the Risen Life Church, located at 2780 E. 3900 So.
