Alan Richard White was our Valedictorian in 1966.  He was a great, smart, funny guy who enjoyed his life so much.  He loved coming to the reunions with Carol.  Last reunion he told us about his cancer and it was very sad to hear.  He lived his life, I'm sure, to the fullest.  His parents showed him a very good path to life with going to church, studying hard and being a good part of the community as an Eagle Scout. I'm sure he instilled all those assets in raising his own children.  God in Heaven, take care of Alan. We will miss him.

Died in Radford, VA on 8/25/21

We were sorry to hear of Alan's passing.  He was indeed an inspiration to the class of 1966!!!  (my wife's class... Janice Greene Slocum)

I have memories of Alan that are both positive and inspirational.  I think that Alan's life was one that was well lived.  Obviously a smart person who pursued an engineering degree that was obtained from Princeton.  It is hard to believe that a lot of us will pass away over the next 10 years or so, but that is the circle of life.  It makes you realize that one must live life to it's fullest and love your family and friends!  Set a good example as that is what one leaves behind in this world.

Alan was a good guy.  We lived near each other, were playmates in elementary school, and for a while we attended the same church.  I think we had pretty much all the same teachers K-12.  One thing I remember, again from elementary school, is that on more than one Halloween he came in costume as the Princeton Tiger.  Even then, he knew where he was going!

Quick to smile, delightful laugh, always welcoming and an inspiration.  I always knew I was welcome at Al and Carol's doorstep.  He was a person of great character and a great sense of humor.  Darn smart too!!!  He is sorely missed and was a wonderful presence on our weekly zooms.

Sad news for sure.  I always remembered him through high school as the "smartest guy in the class; the very friendly maner you always remember."
