Tracy Allen (La Due) (1982)

Ed was a gifted art student. For his graduation present, his parents sent him to Europe for summer vacation. His friend and former exchange student, Foke Fisher,(1979-1980), picked him up at the airport in France. They were on their way to Germany when they were in a car accident on the autoban on July 13, 1982. Both men were killed.

Ed drew portraits of all the Horseheads teachers for the yearbook and had drawings published in the school's Images Magazine. He was planning to go to Washington to enroll in art school.

Ed was a very kind and polite gentleman. He will always be missed.

I'm glad you remembered my cousin Edward with such kind words.  He was a very special person. His death was unspeakably tragic, and changed me forever.  I had to start high school in 1982 with a lot of sadness, but I thought of him all the way through.  The last time I saw him was at his Graduation party before he went to Europe. Our family was very fond of Foke as well. It was a sad time.

Thank you for your kindness,

Kim Sliwa Mendelsohn, Class of 1985
