I first met Mary Alice on a church bus going to a summer Methodist camp to Palestine,Tx. We were about 14. In high school we dated some. joe Carstens(One of my best friends since elementary school) also dated her. Yes there was competition. She was a great person and later married a really great guy and had 3 or 4 kids. I had them over for dinner one evening to our house in Conroe a long time ago. It was the last time I saw her. Her husband still sends me a Christmas letter about the family every year.

We had no idea that she had passed. Does anyone know basic circumstances?

One of the most delightful and loving people I have ever known. I remember the last time I saw her she pushed her husband aside She said I want to hug this man one time before I die. I felt honored and strange at the same time. I will never forget her or her family. There was not a dry eye in the church, when one of her daughters did five minutes on "Memories of Mom."

Had no idea Mary Alice had passed away; just got back from the 40th reunion and did not know even then to ask folks we knew in common, some since elem school. Anyone who has info, I would appreciate hearing. - Ray Manning

I am saddened to hear of Mary Alice’s passing. We were close friends at Reagan. The friendship started based on a clerical process; we sat in alphabetical order in home room, study hall and other classes together. Dockal and Dowdell usually meant she sat behind me, and we talked. We started most high school days in home room by exchanging what was going on in our lives, and giving each other advice. This went on for two years. When the Pennant came out in 1969, she slyly asked to borrow mine so she could sign it. When I got it back, she had carefully annotated every picture of her and I in it. She also wrote a very nice inspirational page in the back about our friendship, and gave me some last pieces of advice about my future. Her advice worked. I know she would have gotten a giggle out of the fact that I have had to explain who Mary Alice was to every girl friend/significant other/wife after high school that opened my Pennant! I called her Red, and she called me Ron Ron. Our paths did not cross after Reagan. God bless Mary Alice, and her family.

Mary Alice and I were friends in High School and like most of us after high school we moved on. Sorry to hear of her passing. She was a very sweet girl. Had good times at SPJST Lodge.

God Bless her family. I know she is missed.

I am so sad to hear of her early death.  She was loved by many and a good person.

The last time I encountered Mary was at Ft. Hood where I was stationed my last 7 months after returning from a year in Viet Nam.   This would have been in the fall of 72.   SHe and her church group were seeking converts.  Unfortunately I was not one of them.  We had a great time catching up on high school memories especially the times I waited on her in the Pizza House.    A great lady and I understand a great mom and wife.   RIP my dear sweet friend.   Ross De Paul
