Shana Warnke Bearden fought a very hard and courageous battle, but on August 30, 2009 that ugly disease called Mesothelioma took her away from her loving family. Her best friend and husband Jim and loving children, April, Chrissy, Brad and Wes will miss her deeply, as will all her other friends and loved ones. We will miss you Shana!!

Shana was a very special person. I have so many wonderful memories of our time in band. She was one of my best friends in high school. Her Mom and Step Dad were always so great and they helped me out so many times. I miss her and will think of her fondly for the rest of my life. May she now rest in God's healing peace.

To Shana's family;
I shall always remember Shana as that beautiful young lady who played a French horn like an angel. Your loss is very painful now but y'all will remain in my prayers.

Shana and I attended school together from All Saints to Hamilton to Reagan. She was a very sweet girl with a lovely spirit. She will always be in my memory especially our All Saints School years.

Hearing just recently of Shana's passing was a real blow. What a tragedy. We were a great group - the French horn section in the band - Shana, Chris McWhirter, Sherry Caldwell, Kathy Rich, me...Shana was one of the sweetest, most decent people I've known in my life. I didn't hear of any reunions until the 25th, so only got to that one and the 35th before now. Consequently, I hadn't seen Shana (and so many others) since we graduated. But I went to New Orleans to go to school and never left. However, not making much of an individual effort to stay in touch was really my fault. And just going to this reunion and learning of her death makes that regret all the more heartfelt. Plus, I went into the public health field, have done asbestos work for many years, and know a lot about mesothelioma. Getting this news about Shana adds to my long-standing infuriated feelings I harbor against the asbestos industry.

Dear Mr. Bearden,

Shana always had a smile on her face, and we all miss her. Please know that our prayers are with you as you face your own struggle.
