#4041 Judy you have worked so hard on the event, but I am sorry I will not be able to attend.  I would love to see the school and my classmates.

Hopefully someone else is able to take my place.

I spoke to the school today and was told that the December 15 tour will include both the new building and old building. There is not a sign up list. Tours will be from 2pm to 7pm and there will be as many tours as possible between those hours.

Hello All,

Robert Chavez just posted a notice on the Burbank Jr High Facebook page about the Dec 15th Open House at Sam Houston. It has basic info, a URL and a QR code to RSVP - I tried manually entering the URL but it didn't work, scanned the QR code with my iPhone and got one that did work. This takes you to a page set up by HISD and the school. I signed up already, fingers crossed!

Sam Houston MSTC

Considered one of the oldest high schools in the state, Sam Houston Math, Science and Technology Center was originally founded in 1878 as the Houston Academy in downtown Houston. After changing names and locations several times, it was renamed Sam Houston High School in 1955 and relocated to its current site on Irvington Boulevard in north Houston. In 2008, the school was renamed Sam Houston Math, Science and Technology Center.

The comprehensive high school offers career pathways in Information Technology through linked learning, an approach that combines rigorous academics with real-world experiences.

Over the years, the school has undergone several renovations, most recently the addition of a new science and laboratory building to support the school’s mission to prepare students for college and careers.

Scope of Work

New school that incorporates the new science classroom and laboratory wing for 2,550-2,750 students.

Project Status
Building foundation work and tilt wall panel erection are ongoing.

First off, a special thanks to Judy for all the work on today’s tour.

And second, be honest, how many of you thought “Gee, there sure are a lot of old people here!”

Enjoyed seeing so many alumni, the tour brought back lots of memories, and hopefully many will also show up on Dec 15 at the new building.
