We lost a good friend & gift to many today. I've known Johnny since we were in the 7th grade. He will be missed & remembered. He suffers no longer. R.I.P. John. 🙏❤️
I just received this message from Linda Hargrave Chambers .
"I post this news with a heavy heart. Our/my friend John McKay passed away around 1a.m. this morning, the 4th of July. John had stage 4 metastatic cancer and fought it as long as he could. He will be missed by us all. The Montrose Skate Shop was an institution in Houston. There will be a memorial for John. The location, day and time will be posted on this page. May John Rest in Peace, out of pain."

Are there any plans being tossed around regarding a 1964 class reunion.

08/11/23 10:35 AM #5172

David Searcy (1973)

Hi folks. Just a few posts prior,  Linda Burke '73 posted a note about our reunion. I keep seeing so many classmates on these pages who have passed away, both older and younger than us. Let me say something about both of those subjects. If you have a class reunion coming up or were part of the years around a reunion, even if it's not your graduating year, GO! I've never missed a reunion for '73 and try to attend as many multi year reunions as I can. High School was some of our best, formative years and you never know what memory will come back, who you will see that you have forgotten and just how much fun they are. A good friend just drove his 87 year old dad to Amarillo for his reunion and he had a blast! We're not here for a long time, so let's have a good time. I hope to see many friends at our upcoming reunion and if you want to join us, come on! The class of '73 is  always well attended and we have so much fun. I  wish you all good health and happiness!

David Searcy, '73

Dr. Joe Frank Thornton says he has tried to sign up on two different occasions and was not successful. Can some one please help him. If so I will provide Email address for him.

Thanks

Mickey please tell Mr. Thornton hello from a bus rider that graduated in 1968. He once took me and my boyfriend/future husband home when we missed the bus. It was a long walk home to Little York and highway 59. He was a very awesome bus driver and I never forgot his kindness.

Well Amazed,

the saved Log in still works.

I do read these post, but Not sure I have ever posted anything. I did attend a reunion, maybe now 15 years ago. I remember it was good. I don't see names I remember, but interesting to read the post. And many or like what I have to offer. Someone Gone. Couple of months ago I attened the service of Bill Greer. We kept in touch over the years. But his last years were tough. We did much together and took the same shop classes. Anyway I thought I should post. I am amazed with new technology. I grew up with #2 pencil and big Chief tablet. still think a good sketch is the way to communicate. But I also see so many that use Facebook and have connections to so many. I don't do Facebook. Back to Billy Greer, good person and friend. Maybe some of you remember him?

To Donnie Titel

Donnie,

I remember you.  I think you lived in the last house near Hardy on Ben Brook.  I lived on Oak Glen and I think Billy Greer grew up on Cliffside.  Sorry to hear about Billy.  I don't do many of the SHHS posts or even read many of them, but your caught my eye in my email.\

Ronnie Schwenke

My long time friend Ronnie Schwenke passed away on December 31, 2023.

We moved next door to him and his twin brother Donnie on Fostoria Lane way back in 1960 when we were all just 5 years old. He will be missed. His funeral will be held later this week at the Earthman Funeral home on Interstate 45.

Rest in Peace Ronnie.

Not sure the proper way to respond or post. But I too, now see a name I do know and remember. Jack Smith. Yes, you remember well on our house, but Billy lived across LIttle York, on Cromwell Lane, North of Cromwell Park and the ball field. I remember you as I always admired your bicycle. You had Saddle Bags. Neat addition.

House is still there. Owned by my younger brother. He tried to rent it, as he lives in Porter Texas. But its trashed all the time. And drifters steal the airconditioners and trash it. I live north of Austin. Have some property in Liberty Hill. Still work, but thinking that maybe I have had enough. Really enjoyed seeing a name I knew.

I have always wanted to see the name of our next door neighbor, Sherry Holland, Maybe she is out there, but only reads.

Carol A Pfeffer (Patterson) (1969)

Thank you Tommy Snider for sharing the news about the passing of Ronnie Schwenke.  My condolences to all his family and friends and especially Donnie and Barbara.   Our families were church friends and neighbors many years on Fostoria until we kids married and moved away.

Tommy and Carol, so sorry to hear about Ronnie. I was a fellow Fostoria resident as well.
I hope all is well with you.

Mickey McClung:

I would also ask that you say "Hello" to Mr. Thronton; he was my bus driver during the years 1965-66 and 1967-68.  My sister and I walked approximately 1/2 mile to the bus stop on Jensen drive; but when it was pouring down rain, Mr. Thornton offered to pick us up or drop us off at our house during those days of inclement weather.  I remember often sitting at the front of the bus where Mr. Thornton, and a young man named Gary (who was the one assigned to open and close the bus door at all of the stops) would carry on interesting conversations.  Gary was very active in Vo-Ag, and Mr. Thornton would always remind him to use "CornHuskers" for his hands as Gary got off the bus. I never knew exactly what that was, but figured it must be some kind of a men's hand cream.

Mr Thornton was my brother Mike Grayson's History and Home Room teacher. Also he taught Mike's best friend Raymond Coates. Mike passed away in 2021 after his wife Linda Brown Grayson passed. Mike and Raymond were Class of '65. I heard so many stories about Mr Thornton and we attended his wedding in a small East Texas town. The church is still standing.
