I see that Bridgett is in the 'Memory' section of the website. Wasn't she with Jimmy Sabo when the accident happened? If I am correct, I do not see his name on any of the class listings. Am I totally confused with all of it??

Jimmy was with Bridgett the day of the accident, It was devastating. I have found addresses for him but I am unsure where he is now.

I thought that Jimmy also passed away in the accident. I didn't know either of them very well, other than classmates. However, it was hard for me knowing that someone my age, was gone forever. You know, kids think that they are invinsible, and I guess so did I at that age.

I searched his name a while back and I think he is still in Texas.

I will add his name if he is not listed.  was he a 70 or 69?

I'm not sure what year Jimmy was.

You might ask Will Perrin if Jimmy Sabo is alive or died in the drowning. I remember it well but I thought it was devastating to him. Will should know the ending. I do know that a Jimmy Sabo lives in Granite Shoals, Tx. I am curious now because I thought I remembered better than that.

Jimmie Sabo did not die  that day at Freeport, though I believe those events pretty well destroyed his interest in surfing.  He and one or both of the Villareal brothers, Richard and Bobby, and one other guy whose name I can't remember were there that  day.  Richard and I used to surf  and drink tequila  some, and from what I can recall vicariously, according to Richard, that day was extremely big (hurricane induced), like a washing machine, and full of rip currents.   There were lost boards--There were no leashes then--and desperation all around to help one another, but, of course, Bridget got swept away.  It's ashamed because Sabo was before the accident a personality well worth knowing.          Frank McCuller

Thanks to everyone that input info on this subject. I did not know Bridgett or Jimmie, other than classmates, but still wanted to know more about what happened. Thanks again, all.

Thank You for setting this tragedy straight. I can't remember the Hurricane but it did have a girls name. I was told that the incident destroyed Jimmy. If anyone wants to find out how he is after all these years they can look him up in Granite Falls, Tx. Sometimes I feel I have spoken out on things that people flat disagree with but I remember this so much and I pray Bridgett is happy and enjoying the life we hope to have one day. Thank you for your reply.  Maybe us Northsiders are apt to know we are right even if we aren't. We were a cool school.
