Oh my gosh, Connie...that was my first "Nightclub".  My first job was at Texas Instruments, on Buffalo Speedway, and we would all go after work.  I haven't thought of that place in years.

In 1967-68, I can't imagine how I even heard of this club, but I used to drive several of us over there on weekends to dance when we were supposed to be at the movies! We dressed up to the nines, with hose and heels and lots of makeup, but I was only 16 and 17 years old and brought along my best bud who was only in the 10th grade, Kathy Cornelius! We also had Connye Smith, Debbie Whittaker and a few others occasionally. We went there to enjoy the great bands and dance with the older guys. We never tried to drink alcohol, but I can't imagine how they let such young gals in there. Interesting young men came there after sports events at the Dome.  I started dating one guy who sang with one of their bands occasionally. He drove over to the Northside to me at church ( Melrose Bapt), where I made all my boyfriends eventually visit. My parents almost had a heart attack as he was at least 20 or 21 and wore boots with stacked heels, and a baby blue mod suit, with deep cut V neck, full sleeve shirt , and the suit jacket had the sleeves  cut off to show off the full sleeved shirt ( like the band the Monkees or the Beatles). It was not the typical attire seen at a Baptist Church!! He was a car mechanic and I went off to Baylor so the dating was short lived.

We continued to get in the Domed Shadows some after graduation when I was home from Baylor, but mostly ended up downtown near Market Square! Fun memories, and love the photos. This building is barely still standing, but boarded up from being a seedy Latino club in recent years. The memories come flooding back  when I drove by, as  I now live a few miles from it!

My cousin Mona and I use to go to Dome Shadows every week-end to dance. This was in the 72-74 range. We had some good times there and at Scene West on Richmond. Thanks for a Blast from the Past!!

In 1965, before I came to Sam in 1967, I was single living off Richmond in the Chateau Dijohn apartments. The Dome Shadows was going great about then. I had forgotten about this place. Thanks for posting.

Update: the place still existed till 2015, as a Mexican night club but it is now a vacant lot, soon to be more luxury apartments or a hotel for the medical center area. I think I learned of it when dating some frat guys from the U of Houston, and then lots of SHHS seemed to find it. That was quite a drive from the North side, but in those days it may have only taken 20 minutes, with half the traffic we have nowadays!  If you would like to try one of the few old fashioned bars left with a live band, try Capp's Bar, off Westheimer near Fountainview in Houston, right behind The House of Pies. Authentic oldies band with live music Tuesday thru Saturday nights. One catch, OLD friends, the music does not start till 9:30 to 10:00 pm. You may need a nap to make it, smile 😎
