President Bush, King Fahad of Saudi Arabia, my cat and the many, many people I have met in the Middle East, India, Africa, Alaska and other 4 corners of the world.
Yes. I was on Sam Houston's first Prep Bowl team as the captain and we were on TV answering questions and representing our High School in Houston. I read the speech about our school, staff and student body at the break. This show was a takeoff on the GE College Bowl and featured different High Schools each week.
I graduated and then started college at Texas A&M. I was in a terrible car wreck in the spring of 70 and had to drop out of college to recuperate. Unfortunately the military draft number for my birthdate was 9 and my number had been already called. I went in the US Navy to avoid going to Viet Nam and wound up being assigned there later in 1971-72. A friend and I joined under the buddy program and we never saw each other again after we were sworn in together. So much for uncle sugar keeping their word about staying with your friends. I spent the next few years travelling the world on various ships, planes and trains to many duty stations in the far east, middle east and USA. I got out of the military and went back to finish my education at Texas A&M. After BS and MS degrees, I was hired by an oil company and went to Alaska for 20 years. I then transferred to Saudi Arabia and I plan to retire next year back to the USA. I have 3 children and 7 grand children and I am still married (37 years ) to the girl who lived next door to me during 1972.
I cannot attend the reunion but I would appreciate someone drinking a beer and toasting all those who cannot attend for whatever reason and may god bless them in whatever pursuit they are taking. I hope to see everyone at the next reunion whenver that may be when I am retired.
