Do you see or hang out with any class mates? Who?

I see all of them.........in my memories

What would we be surprised to know about you?

No surprises here...just me.!!!

Where was your favorite HS hangout?

Well, let's see, there was the Rinky Dink,of course, where Debbie and I met. She was running with Jan McClain at the time and I was running with my badboy buddies, Ronnie Turner, Tommy Lockhart, Burl Stewart, David Blevins, Dolphus McCraney and..... speaking of Dolphus, damn ,that boy could dance!!!! I hated to get on the dance floor when he was dancing, he made us all look like fools.
Then there was the Jack in the box at Crosstimbers and Fulton. A perfect hangout after everyone had dropped their dates off for the night. [don't tell Debbie , she still thinks that I went straight home]. I don't think we got in a lot of trouble, but I think there were a lot of stories [ie lies] being told.
How about Surfside and Quintana with Jimmy Beaugeaux, Jarmon Mitchell, Bryan Causey and Terry Henson, to name a few. We could head out of town with $15.00 between us and spend the whole weekend surfing.
Oh, can't overlook the Airline Drive In, you remember, Monday night was $1.00 a carload. Don't know if I ever watched a complete movie. Too busy hanging out, seeing who was with who and who was doing what....wow, fun times!!!!
Debbie worked at Northline Theater for a couple of years, so, I spent a few evenings there. Think I watched Mash a hundred times, and each time I watched it, I picked up on something new in the plot. Hung around the mall during the day, and at the theater at night.
I spent a few nights at Little Moes, a country joint out off of FM 149. Hung out with my neighborhood buddies, Dale Shelton, John Belinowski, Barry Wiliams and William Neeley, Hell, I didn't know if I was a surfer or a cowboy.
And then, of course, I was a regular at Debbie's house [ we started going steady in the 9th grade and we've been going steady every since]

School Story:

Ahhh, no stories here.... I miss my friends!!! Wish we had the technology then, that we have now.
I regret not making the effort to nurture the relationships that I had developed. I would have loved to share in life's ups and downs with all my friends. We had some good people at Sam....

Actually, I do have a story....It was the last day of school, our senior year, and the final bell had rung. I was headed out the back of the building to my car, which I always had parked out on Hardy St. A flush came over me as I exited the building, when I realized that a chapter of my life was complete. I was exhilarated to think that a new chapter was about to begin. Scared to death, not knowing where to start, what to do, how will I spend the rest of my life? But, most of all, I realized that I was leaving friends that I would probably never see again. Wow.....these were my friends, we talked every day, shared laughs, shared stories, and now, the thing that pulled us together, school, was about to be a thing of the past. I miss all of my friends and I think about them often.

Favorite Quote

Life is not measured by the breaths that you take,
but by the moments that take your breath away!!

Famous or interesting people you've met?

All of our classmates.....what a diverse crowd, with teachers, doctors, firemen, police officers, social workers, business owners, ranchers, farmers, photographers, writers, philosophers, entrepreneurs, lawyers, construction workers, accountants, skydivers, scuba divers, mountain climbers, housewives, housedads, boatbuilders, government workers, politicians, jewelers, nurses, preachers, salesmen, saleswomen , flight attendants, mechanics and so many other careers that our classmates have chosen to follow.

Thanks to all of you for what you do..

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy anything outdoors. My passion is wadefishing. I enjoy hunting, fishing, and spending time with friends.
Debbie and I enjoy traveling. Our travels seem to almost always lead us to sand and sea, but, we do enjoy the occasional ski vacation.

Name something you dearly love. and why?

Ohhh, that's easy........a bite of chocolate, the smile of a child, a phone call from an old friend, helping others, a BBQ Inn chicken fried steak, watching a covey of quail as they skitter through the brush, any sunrise, any sunset, the smell of the sea, Shipley's donuts, watching a tailing red rooting through a grassbed, a good day of work, a good day of rest, the embracing hug of a grandchild, the aroma of a fresh cup of coffee, family and friends, opening the door for a lady, a full moon, watching the birds and squirrels from my patio, a margarita on the rocks..no salt, waking up to the rumbling sound of thunder and a pounding rain ,loving and being loved.......and, oh yeah, the feel and smell of a clean set of sheets on the bed.
And life..........
Why?????..............Why not!!!!!

My daughter, Wendy. Isn't she beautiful!!!!!!
Debbie never would tell me who her father was....juussst kidding!!!!
She might have gotten her mom's good looks, but, she definitely got her personality, mannerisms, attitude and idiosynchrasies from me. Her mom has to remind her every now and then. [ie. 'you're just like your dad'!!!!]

I can't recall the function, but we have name tags on, so I'm assuming that we are hoping that someone will recognize us, and possibly come up and say, "Why, you guys haven't changed a bit"!!!!! Well, we know that we are all changing, and that's OK.
This is one of the few times that I got photographed without a beard, before Debbie could make me grow it back to cover my double chin.
Hey, we get those as we grow older.

And this is my true passion....fishing anywhere along the Texas coast.Debbie and I had a bay house down on the west end of Galveston, but we were confined to the Galveston bay system to do our fishing. So now we rent a house in Port O'Connor for 5 months of the summer, Dennis has a house in Rockport and we have a very good friend who guides out of Corpus. Lot's of options.

Great billfishing, but I truly enjoyed the flats fishing just north of Cancun. Sightfishing for bonefish and permit. Fun times, as you can probably tell by the top picture. I think I was passed out on my feet!!!
